American Express has sent out an e-mail to charge cardholders informing them that they will be automatically enrolled in pay over time in February 2027. The website has been updated to state that: ‘On February 1, 2027, Pay Over Time will be permanently set to “Active” and the option to change the setting will be disabled.”
Unlike a credit card charge cards need to be paid in full every month. Pay over time lets you carry a balance on some/all purchases and then American Express can charge interest on these purchases.
