OfficeMax/Depot 2% ‘Rewards Everything’ Loyalty Program Being Extended

In Late February OfficeMax & Office Depot introduced a new loyalty program for those in Denver & Nashville called ‘Rewards Everything’. The program is pretty simple, you earn 2% (in rewards certificates) on all purchases (including gift cards) with no exclusions or minimums to redeem. In my opinion it’s much better than their other loyalty program that earns 10%, but only on ink and toner; case, ream and photo paper; copy, print (1,000 points = $10 certificate).

I didn’t think that the new program would be rolled out nationwide, but I might be wrong as they’ve extended this pilot promotion to at least one more city.

I’m unsure if any other cities are being added, if you’re a rewards member then you should have received an e-mail if they are extending this to your city. If anybody knows of any other cities this is being extended to, let me know in the comments. Obviously it goes without saying that an extra 2% back on gift cards is pretty big, even if it’s only for rewards certificates.

I am in CO and no VGC counts toward your rewards account. Sorry.

Perhaps related to expanding the Rewards Everything program, I saw a new sign in the local (Chicago suburbs) OfficeMax today that said mastercard gift cards are now cash only. Although I was there to buy amex gift cards for this week’s promotion, I inquired to confirm it did not apply to amex and why only mastercards. The cashier said it was a brand new policy and didn’t know specifics, so called over a store manager. The store manager said for now the policy only applied to mastercards but it would soon be expanded to visas and amex as well. He even volunteered that he thinks it is hard coded in the registers already. I wasn’t there to buy mastercards and didn’t attempt to for obvious reasons, but that’s what he said. I was still able to buy amex gcs with a credit card. But it sounds like another MS avenue may be closing soon. What a bad year 2016 has been and continues to be!

I’ve been using it Colorado and the fees (6.95 per gift card) do not count towards the 2% back. FYI

Have you been able to use your certificate for GC? If not are there any useful items one can use the certificates for?

Even if it does include gc’s at launch, assuming it goes nationwide, it will get nerfed very quickly to exclude GC’s.

Dallas has some seriously heavy hitters. It won’t make it to another city with 2% on gift cards.
