Update 2: It also looks like there is a VIP program with 3% rewards instead of 2%.
Update: Dallas will also be added July 1st.
Introduction
One Mile At A Time is reporting that OfficeMax & Office Depot are testing a new loyalty program called ‘Rewards Everything’ at the moment the program is only available in Denver and Nashville and customers that are located in that area are automatically converted to the new program. Rewards Everything is a pretty simple rewards program, you earn 2% (in reward certificates) on all purchases with no exclusions and no minimum to redeem.
The current OfficeMax/Office Depot rewards program is pretty lackluster, you basically earn 10 points for every dollar spent on ink and toner; case, ream and photo paper; copy, print. 1,000 points will get you a $10 rewards certificate.
Reward Details
Members get 2% back in rewards on everything, FREE delivery with no minimum purchase (oversize and special order items excluded), exclusive offers, and $2 back in rewards when you recycle your ink and toner cartridges ($10 minimum monthly purchase required; limit 10 cartridges per month). Plus, all rewards are paid out – there is NO threshold to earn a reward certificate!
In addition to this if you spend $500 or more within a 365 period, you’ll become a VIP member and VIP members earn 10% rewards on ink, toner, paper and copy/print/ship services, extended sales dates, surprise samples, and a special offer on your birthday! This is basically what the current rewards program is and if your VIP you’ll continue to earn the 2% back on all purchases.
Our Verdict
I can’t see a situation where this gets rolled out nationwide without gift cards being excluded. For those in Nashville & Denver, I’d get in on this while it lasts because even in those select markets I can’t see this lasting long. OfficeMax/Office Depot code as office supply stores, so in addition to the 2% back in rewards certificates you can also get 5x/5% cash back.
DP: I received an e-mail today from OD/OM informing me I’ll be automatically enrolled in this new rewards program 7/1/17. Still says “2% back in rewards on everything – and we mean everything!” I live in Boca Raton, FL (OD headquarters!).
Anyone in Nashville or Dallas (or elsewhere) with this new rewards program who’s successfully purchased multiple gc’s when there is a gc sale (e.g. last week’s $10 off $300 Visa gc’s) on their account and still received both the discount and 2% in rewards (on multiple purchases)?
I got that offer as well and am in Dallas
Just got this e-mail from OfficeDepot (NOTE THE 3% Back):
We are excited to let you know that your
Office Depot® OfficeMax® Rewards Everything account has qualified for VIP Rewards status.
You will automatically start receiving:
• 3% back in rewards
on every purchase, every day.
No Exclusions!
____
Are you in Denver or Nashville?
I am in Dallas Chuck.
were you able to purchase VCGs with CC? heard many DPs on registers at OD/OM hard coded against cc? also in DFW area, and would like to purchase a few to meet spend requirement and would like to save myself the embarrassment if i can.
I use one of the links on my various reward credit cards to order and pick up in the store. Five or ten minutes preplanning can match or exceed the bonus described here. For a large priced item, do it in the store in your tablet or smart phone, but that is a lot of effort compared to the PC at home.
YMMV, but normally you can pick up to ten percent in some cases. Five percent is not unheard of more often. A few times less.
Yes, I am that Scottish.
Is the 2% back a cash return, or is it OD vouchers that you can redeem for OD stuff?
Rewards certificates for OD stuff.
About time after the merger killed the better OfficeMax rewards program which I used often when the abuse was offered. I ended up with a year supply of paper, HP ink and Adobe Acrobat for next to nothing before the merger killed that golden goose.
Note that the rewards can’t be used for any gift or prepaid purchases. So you’ll have to liquidate the reward through actual merchandise and not just roll into more gift cards. :/
Yeah, this makes me want to take a trip to Denver. It just seems like there’s too much chance that you do a bunch of spend and then they somehow find a reason not to give you the rewards. Great deal for those who live in those markets, though.
