Our Verdict
Same deal was last week in Kmart and some were able to do multiples in separate transactions. It appears these eAward cards will function like ordinary gift cards, and they’ll likely be able to be resold too.
Use your Freedom, Discover, Dividend, or Cash+ card for 5x since Sears should qualify as part of the department store category, as discussed in this post.
Hat tip to Audrey and milestomemories
I bought 12 cards in separate transactions. Received 2 Sears eaward cards by email for now.
I bought a couple of these as well, and I never got the e-gift card either. I did get the SYWR points each time, however.
I bought five $100’s in separate transactions. The orders show in my Sears account. I never received any $10 eAward cards. I should have received $50 total. I did receive the SYW points. Chat is useless, they do not have the authority to help. They gave me an email address and of course it bounced back. Then chat told me to call. How is calling going to help when it is easier to send all the info by email? Sears is terrible if there is an issue with an offer like this. They are circling the drain.
Update: Finally received my $50 gift card. Had to file a BBB complaint to get it. I chatted, emailed, called and went to the store, no one would ever follow-up. It should have been simple. Ended up taking hours of my time to finally get it. Not worth it. They claim there was a system glitch. I tend to think it was more of an intentional glitch by the way they were all avoiding me. Will not do this offer again unless the gift card is instant like with the Kmart offer, instead of emailed. Very disappointed with Sears dishonesty.
I did this offer in Sears store but have yet to receive the $10 sears e gift card. Do you know whom I need to call to get it?”
Not sure, maybe try the regular customer service line.
@Roger
I encountered the same problem. I saw the promotion in sears online AD and I purchased the $100 master gift card in sears on 11/15, but until now, I still not get the $10 Sears eAward card in email. Have you get this issue solved?
This is 100% fake. This is a random person making fake promotions. I work at sears, and have encountered these twice in two days. We don’t honor them, and won’t be honoring them.
It’s now expired.
This deal was advertised on Sears website. See posted link.
Anyone have any luck with this? Stopped by Sears today and this deal didn’t pull up on the register and the store manager couldn’t find it anywhere in his system or get a hold of anyone who knew about it. Ended up voiding the transaction before it was processed and leaving.
When I click your “Direct Link” I don’t see anything about this. And I don’t see a way to view the print ad.
Maybe it only works for certain locations?
Sears store insisted that offer is not for two more weeks. Cards are Sunrise $100.00 – $5.95 fee per card or $200.00 card – $6.95. I bought two $200.00 = $400 MO from grocery without problem. PIN = last four of card number. I paid with Citi to cap off my $50.00 Dividend Reward.
Head to Sears (NJ) with Chase Freedom, Discover cards and return back home with nothing, cause maximum they carry are $100 MCG.
It has been my experience with both Sears and Kmart that not every store location has the exact same selection when it comes to gift cards and the rules for buying them. Some only have have $100 MCGCs, some have $200 MCGCs, and a few rare ones still have some variable loads left on the racks. The same goes for purchasing them with a credit card. Some CSRs will tell you that purchasing a VGC or MCGC with a credit card is not allowed, and other CSRs don’t say anything. This hobby is a lot of YMMV so don’t give up based on the outcome at one store location. 🙂
