Southwest Are Making Flights Until March 8th, 2017 Available.

Southwest periodically make flights for further in the future available. Starting now they’ll be adding flights until March 8th, 2017. When I asked exactly when these flights would be added, I received this response from their Twitter team.

Southwest has a pretty good cancellation/refunds policy, depending on the fare you’ve booked you’ll either receive a points refund (Wanna Get Away) or cash refund (Business Select or Anytime – returned to credit card if you used one). That means it’s often best to book flights as soon as they become available and periodically check to see if the price has decreased, if it has you can cancel and rebook.

Not sure how helpful this is to readers, let me know in comments if you want to know when airline availability becomes released or not. Also it might be worth checking later in the day as more flights are added. Update: Seems like they’ve made the schedule available until March 8th, 2017 instead of the 7th.

Yes. I had this date on my calendar. I plan ahead and had plans booked for Presidents’ Day. Was waiting for this to open to use the companion pass. It’s best to book as soon as schedule opens, then change if you need to. All flight times seem to start at the same price. Then they vary later on due to availability.

Wanna Get Away refund policy is if cancelled more than 10 minutes before departure, the full value of the fare can be applied to new reservation(s) within a year. Save the PNR as you’ll need to to apply the credit to a new booking. Points refund only applies to points bookings, obviously.

Keep in mind it’s based on the original reservation date. If you book today for March, but cancel in February 2017, you still have only until July 2017 to redeem.

March 7th. Technically March 8th for the return flight or if you’re booking a one-way.
