Test Drive A Cadillac And Get 7,500 American Airline Miles

The Offer

A few days ago we posted about the new Cadillac and American Airlines partnership, as part of this partnership they were planning to offer 7,500 miles for test driving a Cadillac. This deal is now live. Earlier in the year, I completed a test drive with Cadillac for $100.

  • AAdvantage® members can earn 7,500 AAdvantage miles when they test drive any Cadillac. Contact a Cadillac Concierge today at 844-469-2234 to schedule an appointment and participate in this exclusive limited time offer.

Hold times have been extremely long. I’d recommend using gethuman’ call back feature for Cadillac (click here). Alternatively some people have had some success using Cadillac’s online chat feature which can be found by clicking here.

The Fine Print

  • Allow 4-6 weeks for the airline miles to post to your account after confirmation has been received
  • Participating dealerships only
  • Must have an AAdvantage account
  • Must be over 21 years of age
  • Must have valid U.S drivers license
  • Employees of general motors are not eligible
  • Limit of one test drive per person
  • When you call they will request the following information from you:
    • Name
    • Address
    • E-mail
    • Phone
    • Advantage number
    • Which dealership you’d like to test drive in
    • What car you’d like to test drive
  • Miles have a retail value of $221 (I don’t believe a 1099 will be issued for this, but I could very well be wrong. They are not required to send one unless the value is over $600, but financial institutions still sent out 1099’s for bank bonuses which are far less than $221)

It’s interesting to note that their is not a requirement to have a 2004 or earlier titled car to participate in this promo. This was a requirement last time around.

Our Verdict

If you’re going to complete this promotion, I’d really recommend reading my experience with the earlier $100 cash promotion. In the end some people did not receive their $100 gift card because they told the sales representative they weren’t actually interested in testing the car and just wanted the cash, at the time the sales rep stated that they would process the paperwork anyway but in the end this never happened. In the end dealerships were instructed to tell consumers they were out of giftcards if it was made clear they were only there for the $100 giftcard.

I simply said I was interested but wasn’t interested in high pressure sales tactics and would take my business elsewhere if I felt this pressure. This worked surprisingly well and in the end I spend a total of 40 minutes for $100. Once you’ve completed your test drive, you should receive a print out that looks similar (but not identical) to this:

Scott from Hack my Trip has an interesting post on whether this type of deal is worth it or not, I think it’s worth a read. You should spend a couple of minutes finding where your local dealership is and deciding if the time getting there and back and completing the test drive is worth it or not. I personally value AA miles at about 1¢ a piece meaning it’d get $75 of value from this offer.

Given that last time a similar promo took a total of 40 minutes, that’s an hourly rate of over $90. I’m just waiting for confirmation that I’m eligible for this deal before I complete this promotion. As always, you can view more “free money for test driving cars” opportunities by clicking here.

I did the test drive today, in about how long should I expect the confirmation? I just read your last experience with the $100 test drive and it says that you got it processed immediately. If I didn’t do that, how screwed am I?

I waited on hold yesterday for 45 minutes yesterday and was able to get it scheduled for Monday. I wish I knew about the callback chat!
