$15 off Uber with Google Maps, Works for Existing Users

Originally posted last week. Reposting 1/26 since lots of existing Uber users are getting this to work now.

Uber Offer

Google Maps recently added the functionality to be able to fully order an Uber without leaving the Maps app. (Previously, Maps opened you up in the Uber app.)

To celebrate, many new and existing Uber users are getting an offer of $15 off the ride. There’s mention of a couple promo codes (GOOGLE or REQUEST), but the trick to get this to work seems to be to book the ride directly in Google Maps without any promo code. Lots of existing users are getting it to work that way.

First link your Uber account into Google Maps, then come back to Google Maps and order directly from the app. If it’s not working, try updating to the latest version of Google Maps and see if it works.

Lyft Offer

There’s also a Lyft promo code: GMAPS which gets you $15 off a ride. Valid through 2/2/17. This offer can be saved in your account. This one works only for first time users.

In the Google Maps app, beside my credit card description before pressing “book”, it said “promo not valid”. So, it didn’t work for me with or without the code and when starting from within Google Maps.

Same thing here !! “Promo not valid” and for some reason “this ride option isn’t valid in this area” pops up when I try to order UberX from the google maps app, but it works on my uber app. Disappointed 😔

Is the promo applied after I book the Uber? Or how will I know if it’s been applied before I actually book for the Uber

I just looked at my Google maps and tried to get the $15 on my iphone. I then updated both Google Maps and Uber. After both finished updating, I went into the google maps app and saw the $15 off uber.

Hey Chuck, may want to repost this, Google Maps released an update today, that looks like it enabled for all devices.

Used it yesterday for Uber as an existing user, on iPhone. Worked just fine, except that the app bugged out a bit – the first time I tried it got stuck requesting the ride, so I had to restart the app. Second time did it!

Looks like this is limited to Android. The integrated Uber/Google functionality is not listed on my IPhone app, and instead opens Uber directly to finish when i request a ride.

Worked for me on iPhone. May require the latest version of the app.

Don’t use code, just go to Google map app, and click requests. It is automatically applied. Im not a new user and it worked for me.
I repeat do not use code, access through Google map request.
