This appears to be a smaller bank. So it is hard to find information out there.

The verification process is very manual. I had to email them a photo id and two proofs of address.

They have some pretty low limits as far as how much they let you transfer out using ACH. For new accounts it is $50 for outgoing external transfers Incoming external transfers depends on the other bank. Zelle limit of $1000 daily and $3000 monthly. Limit will increase from $50 to $250 after your 91st day. For PayPal, Venmo, CashApp there is a $2500 per transaction limit up to 3 transactions per day.

I’m using this as my primary bank because the 5% is too good to pass up.Given all this restrictions I wouldn’t recommend using them as a secondary bank.

DP: CSR confirmed this requires average daily balance of $1000 as well as $1000 in DDs each month to qualify for that first $100. They denied me because my april total was only $500. I’m not going to bother sticking around for the latter 9 months portion.

 William Charles,

It appears that this $200 bonus can be combined with this $50 referral offer. The $50 appears to go to the referrer only. Are you going to create a referral code post?

So the referred party gets nothing from using a referral code to sign up? Meh

I thought it might be worthwhile to post about because the referred party would still receive the $200 (not a lesser offer). I understand why it wouldn’t be that popular though.

This must be the Hippie version of Red Neck Bank in except it isn’t a good deal at all.

I asked the bank for clarifications on the Free account. The customer service responded that there are no fees assessed with the Free account; however, there are requirements, such as the $500 direct deposit monthly to keep the account open. If you open the Free account, you do need to have a monthly direct deposit of $500 despite that it is free. What a tricky and ridiculous way of offering so-called free account!

I opened the free checking in Sept ’22, made a $500+ transfer from Chase in Oct and Nov, and then didn’t touch the account until I made a debit purchase in Feb ’23. No fees assessed and the account was not closed.

This stupid smiley face Bank will pull Chex twice from two different locations if you aren’t instant approved and go to review.

The $365 bonus had a lot of hoops, but a decent payout. This $200 bonus takes away one hoop and cuts the payout almost in half. With all the tasty but Chex-sensitive offers recently, I don’t think this is worth the hit.

ETA: Also, it’s not worth disqualifying yourself should the $365 come back.

Don’t worry about the ridiculousness of this bank and its terms. You probably won’t get approved anyway. I got rejected for no reason (my chex is clean, my credit is 800+, no debt. I will say that I am at the 5/24 limit on credit cards until May 2023, but credit card usage generally has no effect on banks? I just opened a Laurel Road account with no problems last week!)

Free checking account requires $500/month in direct deposits. Friends checking account requires 15+ monthly debit card transactions to keep fee free. Probably more trouble than it’s worth.

Yeah, that kind of ruins it. It’s possible to schedule a daily Amazon gift card reload of $.50. then just use the money for amazon purchases or other gift cards. But it’s kind of troublesome.
