4 Southwest Credit Card Bonuses Slated To End on October 16th

[Update: Interestingly, some Southwest Performance links are showing 70,000 already now (ht Reddit), so it’s a good guess that the bonus will go down to 70,000 after October 16th. We’ll see.]

The Southwest Performance business 80,000 points signup bonus offer is slated to end on October 16th, as we’ve noted previously. Reader Randy sent in an image about the Southwest Plus 40,000+20,000 offer, indicating that it, too, is slated to end on October 16th. I’m guessing the other two personal Southwest card which currently have 40,000+20,000 signup offers are slated to end then as well as all 3 of these 40+20 offers came out together. The Premier Business card has 60,000 points as its standard offer, and that will likely remain.

We don’t know what the signup bonus will be after the 16th. It might be extended or it might go down to 25,000 points or some other amount. Personally, I’d probably jump on the Performance business 80k offer as that’s a card-launch offer, and very possibly will come down to 60,000 (or something like that) as the permanent offer going forward.

On the other hand, the personal card offers of 40k+20k aren’t all that amazing, and we don’t know what the offer will be after the 16th. Even now, other signup exist including having a friend refer you in which case you’ll get 40,000 points after $1,000 spend, plus your friend will get 10,000 points (just keep in mind the tax implications); or you can do the 50,000 in-flight offer after $2,000 spend.

All of this matters especially due to timing of the Southwest Companion Pass. The timing right now is actually quite good: if you signup now, your second statement will likely close sometime in mid-December; you’ll want to complete the spend requirement during the third statement which will close in January. The points will credit in 2020 and count toward the next Companion Pass; if you complete the 110,000 points requirement in early 2020, you’ll land up with nearly two years worth of Companion Pass as the pass will be valid the remainder of 2020 and the entire 2021. Please read Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About The Southwest Companion Pass [2019] for complete details.

Links are dead. As I was walking my mom through the app, my page timed out and she was miraculously allowed to finish the app on her mac, click submit, and go pending (After this all links died). What a time to be alive.

Is it possible to get approved for two different Southwest business credit cards if you have several legit businesses ?

I am at 4/24 – Just got the southwest biz card a few days ago (not sure if that counts as a slot) I will lose a card November 1.

Am I eligible to get the personal card now? (dependent on biz counting as a slot)

or do I need to wait until nov 1?

Did you have any other Chase business cards by any chance? My wife has the Ink Preferred (opened 4/2019) and just got approved after pending transaction for the SWA 80k offer. We’d like to apply for the Biz 60k offer, but are hesitant and thinking of maybe just going for the personal offer.

Was only approved yesterday for $5k limit, but have an upcoming tax payment higher than that. If I ask for a credit limit increase, will they need to pull my credit again? If so, will combine with the pull from yesterday?

Do you have other business cards? You could shift credit without a pull, but not an increase typically.

DW approved for Performance biz in 10.12.19. Statement close (1st) 12.4.19

Deadline for $5k MSR 1.14.20. So may just wait till 1st week of Jan to finish MSR. Not worried about a few weeks of missing CP when it’s still almost two years

Do the offers end ON the 16th (meaning you have to apply by 10.15), or is the 16th the last day to apply?

Most expiration dates are valid through the end of the date; meaning you should be able to apply on the 16th. As always, offers can be pulled any time so best not to wait if possible. Also server issues can occur with everyone trying to apply last minute.

If I want to have the points post in Jan of 2020, is it too early to apply for the cards now?

Nope. You have three months to meet the minimum spend. Get it now, meet some of the minimum spend, then wait until after Jan. 1 to finish the rest of it.

Also, I believe the actual spending could even happen in December as long as the statement does not close until after the first of the year. The points and bonus close once the statement closes. Someone correct me if I am wrong on that.

Stinger Tworth

You’re right Stinger. That’s why I wasn’t sure if I would actually have a statement fall in Jan as there is a good chance if one applies now, a statement will cut in Oct, Nov, Dec. That’s why I’m doubting how it will actually go down.

From my experience you will not have a statement close in October at this point in the month.

Be extra careful when calculating/tracking your spend.

Chase has a history of being “generous” with this calculation and posting points earlier than they should by counting all purchases – but NOT deducting any credits or returns.

Just applied (10/10) and approved (10/11) for SW Performance Biz–my first business card. I used info based on my selling of items on Poshmark. Filled it out under my name and SSN as the company info. Is there anything you could argue is a business in the case of needing to call and speak with a live person / produce some evidence? I was nervous about my first business card but felt confidently about claiming the desire to have a business card for separate expenses in order to operate on Poshmark.

Yes. https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/5mhaai/beginners_chase_guide_for_folks_under_524/ Skip to the “How do I get a business card without an actual business?”

I got the CP earlier this year with Personal Priority & Business Premier cards. Thinking about applying for the Biz Performance card and timing it to get the 80k sign-up bonus in early 2020. Combine that with 5k from required spend, 6k+7.5k anniversary bonus on existing cards, 9k anniversary bonus on this card. That leaves me needing to earn just 2.5k more points to re-earn the CP and extend it through 2021. Does anyone see any holes in this plan? I figure since I’m still under 5/24, the 80k points is already one of the better available Chase bonuses, and the extra year of CP is just gravy.

I think your plan makes sense and should work. My understanding is they allow multiple bonuses for the business card (unlike the 1 bonus per 24 month language on the personal cards), so even though you got the business premier bonus, I think you would still qualify for the $80k on the Performance version. I say go for it.

I was thinking of applying for it and getting the bonus and next year referring 4 or 3 people with my regular priority card and hitting the 110k to get companion pass again
