The Fine Print

  • Please allow 4-6 weeks for Elevate points to post to your account.
  • This introductory offer is only available to first-time customers of The Club from Virgin Wines and limited to one case per household.
  • Offer subject to availability.
  • In the unlikely event of a wine becoming unavailable, a substitute of similar style and of equal or greater value will be supplied. Every three months, we will reserve you a 12-bottle Club selection for $139.99 (plus $19.99 shipping and tax combined).
  • There is no commitment and you may cancel at any time. You will earn 140 Elevate points with each Club case you choose to take.
  • Once eligible, each year you will be offered two extra-special shipments: one in summer and one for the holiday season.
  • You will be notified in advance of these extra cases and their special-offer price.
  • Again, there is no obligation.
  • Licensed retailers only accept orders from adults at least 21 years old.
  • All orders will be processed and fulfilled by licensed entities in the industry and applicable taxes are paid. Licensed retailers have the right to refuse orders should an advertisement not comply with your state laws.
  • Delivery is available to AZ, CA (offer may vary), CO, CT, FL, ID, IL, IN, LA, MA, MI, MN, MO, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ (offer may vary), NM, NV, NY, OH, OR (not eligible for free gift), SC, TX, VA, WA, WI, WV, WY, TN and DC.
  • Void where prohibited by law.

Our Verdict

When I look at these deals I generally just think about them from a purchasing points/miles perspective and consider the wine a bonus for dealing with the offer and having to remember to cancel. In that case you’re paying 1.6¢ per Virgin America point or 1.23¢ per Alaska mile. Not a terrible deal if you purchase miles, but I have an abundance of airline miles so I’d never purchase them at that rate.

Stacking it with an AMEX offer – spend $150 and get $50 back.

Two subscriptions?

Yes! Amex offer expires on Jan 3rd.

Nice!! Oh there we go. No shipping to Hawaii 😍

There is a AmEx offer at Virgin Wines for $50 off $150 + 12% CB @ Splender.

If you can arrange 2 orders on 2 accounts and go through Splender, then it could be (6.5k + 6.5k) Alaska miles @ 0.7 cents each (and 30 bottles of wine).

Is it easy to cancel the subscription?

May want to read this first – may not be worth the hassle:

So many negative comments on Virgin Wines’ service. Er, really should think twice before jump in it.

Update:

Splender will pay out for this. I loaded and logged in to splender from safari and chrome. Then I clicked my personal link to this offer. I was just notified that splender paid me ~$9-$10. Nice added bonus 😉

Luke Bornheimer

Want to get the order/flow right to ensure cash back: You logged into Splender, clicked on the Splender link to virginwines.com and then what? Did you just paste the link to the Virgin America offer into the URL bar then, or is there a direct way to get to the offer from the virginwines.com page you’re directed to from Splender?

David L

Yes, can you elaborate on this please? I don’t have a personal link to this offer

Also, virgin wines is a good company. I have ordered from them in the past, and they offer a generous return policy. So far Ive liked all their wines and havent returned. With the splender payout, youre paying under $5 per bottle… that’s darn good, esp w alaska miles. Use these up for a dinner party.

So the Virgin Wines Amex offer says one or more transactions. If one of the transactions is my card and the other is my aithorized user on the same account, will this still trigger the Amex offer?

Skor
Skor

Nope. Both (or all the required) transactions have to happen on the card on which the offer is loaded. AU card transaction does not count for triggering your card offer.

Hmm..

So do these have to be to different elevate accounts?

I ordered 2 to different name/shipping addresses, but under 1 elevate account.

Same question, is this a violation to the term that only to first-time customers of The Club from Virgin Wines? Can’t buy another case as a gift?

Luke Bornheimer

+1, will two bonuses post to one Elevate account? That seems like a crucial detail for getting the “13,000 miles for $80” that’s detailed in the post.

Michael
Michael

When I click through Splender, I don’t automatically get the Virgin offer…and when I navigate to it after clicking though Splender, the price is $90, not $80. Is anyone else seeing that?

Luke Bornheimer

Are you still seeing this discrepancy? How are you navigating to the Virgin offer after getting directed to the site from Splender?

Michael
Michael

I am. When I click the link from Splender, I get an offer for $70 plus $20 shipping, without an option to enter a Virgin number.

If I click on the Virgin Wines homepage (icon at the upper left, it opens a new webpage, so doubtful it’s even recording the click through Splender), then navigate to the Virgin offers, I see a $90 price, not $80.

Maybe too late to take advantage of the AmEx Offer afterway, I’d hate for them to run temporary charges today, then run the full charge later when it ships.

Luke Bornheimer

Ah, ya, seeing the same thing—assumed you can click the Virgin Wines icon in the top-left corner and have Splender follow you to the other pages (or just put a cookie in your browser for credit).

More importantly (and concerning) is your second point about a temp charge today and full charge when it ships. Can anyone report on when the full charge went through?

Luke Bornheimer
Michael
Michael

Splender worked — it must have stored a cookie or something on my computer because I got an email today confirming the cash back on one of the orders (even though I didn’t click through directly). I didn’t get it on the other one because I used another browser, oh well.

I didn’t know it would do that — good to know.

I couldn’t get the portal to work, but I just ordered two shipments, one to me at my work address using my Virgin number, and one to my wife at our home address using her Virgin number. Used the same AmEx card for both and immediately got a confirmation email for the $50 statement credit. So not too late for AmEx Offers…

Luke Bornheimer

Great to know, thanks! Planning to order one shipment to home and one shipment to wife’s work, and hoping to credit all the miles to one account (mine). Any idea if 10,000 points will post to one Elevate account?

Michael
Michael

I would say maybe not, but that’s 100% a guess.

Luke Bornheimer

Worth a shot, eh? Used my Elevate Number for both orders/shipments. I’ll report back on what happens. Figure the worst case is I have to call/email Virgin Wines to tell them to change the Elevate Number to my wife’s for her order/shipment.

Thanks again for the info, Michael!

Good luck!

Following up: My second order was cancelled, either because (a) the orders were placed in too close succession or (b) the orders had the exact same billing address. Unsure if the 10,000 Points would have posted to my Elevate account, if the orders had gone through successfully.

ali

Just wanted to share: family of 6 (2 adults & 4 kids) each with their own Virgin Elevate and Alaska Airlines accounts. I placed 6 orders across 3 amex cards and they have all shipped as of today. i varied the shipping address slightly for each of the 6 orders. best case scenario: $330 for 90 dollars of wine and 39,000 Alaska miles.

Luke Bornheimer

Did all of the orders go through, and did all 30,000 Elevate Points post?

ali
ali

Yes. Well, not that simple. 6 * 2000 posted immediately. I transferred all those to alaska. Later 6 * 3000 posted but then I could only transfer mine to alaska. I am getting “Your account has been disabled. Please contact Customer Care for assistance.”

Luke Bornheimer

So all 30,000 Points were posted to your Elevate account? That’s impressive.

KZ
KZ

Mine shipped today but some reason they only gave me 2k points instead of 5k. Not sure what happened.

Luke Bornheimer

My second tranche of 3,000 Points posted today; First 2,000 Points posted on January 12th.
