About that Walmart+ $100 Swagbucks Signup Deal

Lots of us signed up for the annual Walmart+ subscription ($98) utilizing the $100 Swagbucks offer which would make it essentially free. Added to that are/were a number of stacks which were able to turn it into a real moneymaker.

Since that time, the Swagbucks offer changed to being typically $50, though sometimes we’ve seen it at $75 and currently it’s at just $5.

Unfortunately, the initial batch of Swagbucks sign ups with the $100 offer did not track automatically and required us to manually request credit from Swagbucks. I believe most subsequent signups under the $50 or $75 offers and some of the later $100 signups did track automatically, but that initial batch of $100  signups did not get any Swagbucks credit automatically.

When affected users file a support claim with Swagbucks, their customer service team typically does credit the user for the Walmart+ signup at the lower $50 amount, not the full $100.

Some readers had success getting the remaining $50 after repeated requests from support, whereas others had no such luck. Personally, I’m in the latter category with the many support requests (both follow-ups and new requests) just yielding a scripted reply from Swagbucks. Even documented screenshots showing my eligibility are to no avail, just getting bland replies from the support team who does not seem to have even read the details of my claim.

Walmart+ Vs. Amazon Prime

While I’ve struck out in getting the remaining $50 to credit, I am finding Walmart+ incredibly useful for online orders. My non-scientific comparison finds Walmart.com to be cheaper than Amazon on many low cost household items.

Amazon seems to have baked a shipping fee into the cost of low-cost items without calling it that; it’s understandable, but the ‘free shipping’ cost doesn’t actually reflect a typical competitive price in a store like Walmart or Target in the case of low-cost items. Conversely, Walmart.com pricing seems to be more similar to what you’d find in a budget store (maybe a bit higher than Walmart stores, but somewhat comparable), and you’re actually getting a “free” shipping service without the shipping cost baked into the price.

Currently, when making a purchase I’ll typically compare Walmart vs Amazon, and find myself completing the purchase at Walmart more often than Amazon. The free shipping benefit of Walmart+ is becoming as useful to me as that of Amazon Prime. (Prime does have numerous others perks as well, such as Prime Video, which many find useful.)

While the Walmart+ purchase was mainly done due to the deal, I’ll have a real decision to make at year’s end…

Long time Swagbucks user, here’s a tip on the ticket process:
1) File a ticket (preferably using the envelope link next to the transaction in your history). Attach screenshots of everything you think could be required…for this case a screenshot of 10,000 SB deal and an screenshot of active account showing your name and payment method with date visible.
2) You get an automated response immediately with generic information about waiting 32 days or 7 days or some garbage, saying to reply if you don’t get it after that time
3) In my experience you will NEVER get a response if you do not later reply to the automated response…so I generally wait a couple days and then respond to the auto-response saying there’s been no response for X number of days.
4) I nearly always get a response within a couple days of this follow-up reply. If I don’t get one after a week, I file a new ticket.
I have earned hundreds of thousands of swagbucks, and have to say they’re pretty decent about it if you follow up like this. In this case I got 0 for Walmart+, followed up and got 5,000 (half the amount due), followed up again with nothing, followed up again with 2 tickets (for remaining 5,000 signup and also 250 SB first purchase) and was awarded the 5250 balance due all in one go).

An interesting Walmart+ benefit has been that many of my orders get upgraded to same-day delivery automatically. I live in the suburbs of a top 10 US city, so I would expect this benefit is rare, but if I place an order in the morning for something they carry in store, it typically gets delivered same-day by a random gig worker.

(I got the $100 SB without really any warning one day without filing a claim. There was no real indication it had been tracking.)

All the more reason to not count on Swagbucks. I know some people have good luck and some don’t. I miss the good old days when someone promised you something- you got it.

My track record with SB has been a complete mess. When it didn’t track I just cancelled my Walmart+ and asked for a refund.

Good to hear about your positive experience with WM+. I tried using it but was not accustomed to buying household items online (live in a very convenient area). For the stuff I do buy online, Walmart’s selection was really limited.

SB is not even remotely worth it

Fortunately I got my $100 SB’s from a Jan 11 2021 Walmart+ sign up.

I agree that Walmart has great value vs Amazon pricing. Usually prices are about the same or better at Walmart. Add to that the better (IMHO) customer service and ease of returns at Walmart dot com (or in store if you prefer) and Walmart gets my biz if prices are same.

Also much easier to squeeze a few more % discounts out of Walmart if u stack discounted WM gift cards (2-3% off easy to find; 10%+ somewhat easy 1-2x/yr like with Chase 5% category or SB 10/12% back on Sams Club incl. gift cards). Then another 2-4%+ cash back from shopping portal when you shop Walmart dot com.

I don’t know if I pay $98 long term just to get free shipping. It seems easy enough to stack $35+ to get free shipping or just go with Amazon free shipping and pay tiny bit more occasionally vs Walmart pricing.

After sending many tickets, emails, and screen shots, a rep assured me I would be credited, but it never happened! When I filed another ticket they responded that there was no record of my transaction. I am also done with Swagbucks!

I had to open a ticket for it too. For the last year or so I’ve had to open a ticket for every single large reward, small points shopping trips track just fine though. Luckily for me, they credited the full 10,000 points without trouble. Just this morning I opened a ticket for the Sunbasket offer.

I was told no credit will be given. What screenshots did y’all upload? All I have is an email about the free 14 day trial and then the payment from my amex 2 weeks later? Any tips?

It’s been a while since I contacted support, but if I remember correctly I sent a screenshot of the trial email, a screenshot of the $98 charge in my bank app, and a current screenshot from the Walmart app to show my subscription was active.

I sent the same as TheFascination and also included the screenshot of the offer for 10K SBs. I think sending the current status of the Walmart subscription helped. It took multiple tickets for me, each time I hit a brick wall, I started a new one.

Had same issue. Swagbucks didn’t credit automatically and required multiple follow-ups..sent proof of membership though it tracked by swagbucks..credited 50$ and follow ups needed to get 100$.

Facing similar problem with sunbasket promotion now.. Will be following up
