Our Verdict

You can view the prize store here. They have some items that are auctions, some that are sweepstakes and some you can purchase outright. Looks like you can get 6,500 points without spending anything at a Chevron/Texaco. The items you can purchase cost the following amounts:

  • Sport bottle: 7,500 points
  • Van collectible: 10,000 points
  • Drawstring bag: 15,000 points
  • Hat: 35,000 points
  • T-shirt: 40,000 points
  • Polo: 80,000 points
  • Jersey: 100,000 points

The Jersey would require spending $2,000 with a regular Visa card or $1,000 with a Chevron branded card. Some of the best gas credit cards are Visa so that’s good. Most people will find Chevron stations more expensive than competitors so this is hardly a good deal. That being said it might make sense to sign up if you’re in the eligible area and do get your gas at Chevron/Texaco, just make sure you’re not overpaying by visiting there.

Chevron is by far the most expensive gas no matter where I go. I spend a lot of time between Texas and California and in both places Chevron is consistently 30-50 cents higher than Exxon and Shell. I haven’t bought Chevron gas in probably 5 or 6 years when I was driving between LA and SF and everything was expensive in the town I stopped for lunch. I don’t even know how Chevron is in business.

I stopped using Samsung pay. Lost platinum status by 2 transactions. Fyck Samsung. Hope Chevron is smarter about loyalty.
