Airport Car Service Wingz Expands To Portland, Denver & Seattle Airports + TripIt + $10 Credit

What Is Wingz?

We’ve talked about Wingz before, they are an airport car service that is a similar to Uber & Lyft. They have fixed rates which are dependent on where your going from and which airport you’re going to. I found the prices comparable to taxis in Los Angeles, but more expensive than Uber. A few readers have provided me with feedback and most of it has been positive.

New Services

Wingz have expanded to three more airports:

They already service the following airports:

  • Burbank Bob Hope Airport (BUR)
  • Los Angeles Int’l Airport (LAX)
  • Chicago Midway Int’l Airport (MDW)
  • Oakland Int’l Airport (OAK)
  • Chicago O’Hare Int’l Airport (ORD)
  • Phoenix Sky Harbor Int’l Airport (PHX)
  • San Diego Int’l Airport (SAN)
  • San Francisco Int’l Airport (SFO)
  • Mineta San Jose Int’l Airport (SJC)

TripIt Integration

They’ve also added TripIt integration, you link your two accounts from inside TripIt. When a flight is added, Wingz will send you an e-mail to schedule a Wingz airport ride if they have operations out of that e-mail. All of the required fields (flight information, number of passengers and any other preferences will be pre-populated).

I’m not sure if your Wingz ride will be automatically cancelled if you cancel your flight or it’s delayed, but I imagine not which is a bit disappointing. I’d like to see benefits such as those added to make it actually useful for users rather than just a way to drum up business. TripIt is free, you can also get TripIt pro for free if you have the Barclaycard Arrival Plus.

Referral Bonus

You can also refer friends, they’ll receive $10 credit for signing up and you’ll receive $10 once they’ve completed their first ride. My link is here, I appreciate you using it as a way of showing your thanks. If you’ve used Wingz before, feel free to leave your referral links in the comments but make sure you also leave a mini review of the service that other readers might find helpful.

Once my referral credit builds up, I’ll ask Wingz if I can give it away to readers instead of using it myself.

Final Thoughts

I like the idea of a car service that focuses purely on airports, as Uber isn’t always available directly (and I hate Uber’s business practices). Taking taxi’s at airports is almost always a terrible experience, you never know when you’re getting ripped off as your new to the city and the wait lines can be massive as well.

My major issue with Wingz is the price, while I dislike Uber & taxi’s I’m generally not willing to pay a premium for a private car service. Wingz isn’t as expensive as most car service programs, but it’s still more expensive than Uber (at least in LA) and comparable to taxi’s. Looks like they are mainly just focusing on California for now and then will expand from there.

How do you link your Wingz and TripIt accounts? I can’t seem to figure that one out.
