Alaska Airlines Offering Elite Miles Based On Credit Card Spend

Alaska Airlines has already announced that status will be extended through 2021. Today Alaska Airlines announced three new promotions:

  • Credit card holders can earn elite qualifying miles and double miles on qualifying restaurant purchases
    • 2,500 elite qualifying miles for every $5,000 spent on purchases from June 1st until September 30th, 2020 (limit of 10,000 per cardholder)
    • 2 miles for every dollar spent up to $1,500 in spend at restaurants and take out (including delivery services) from June 1st until July 31st, 2020
  • Members will earn a 50% bonus on elite qualifying miles for flights taken through the end of year (extension of a previous offer)

EQM aren’t rolling over to next year and status has already been extended through 2021, so for most people these offers won’t be that attractive.

Dang, I would have put $40k through my BoA AS Biz card if I could have gotten the 20k required for MVP status. But putting $20k on the card for 10k in qualification makes no sense. As a West Coaster, I’ve been interested in flying Alaska more but have status with other airlines that is holding me back. Too bad.

Does this stack, do you know? If one already has MVP, can one spend one’s way to MVP Gold under this promotion?
