Amazon: 50 Face Masks For $16

There’s a third-party seller on Amazon selling 50 face masks for around $16 with quick delivery. (affiliate links below)

This seller has multiple listings with basically the same product; the $16 price-point is their lowest. They have hundreds of reviews in the 3.5-4 range, so it looks like they’ll actually deliver.

(If you can wait a little, here’s one for a few dollars less, but it might not come until July 15th.)

Don’t feel bad if you get ripped off. California state paid a BILLION dollars for this stuff, and I don’t think they’ve got much to show for it.

Nearly identical listing as the first one posted in the article, just a lower price. Read the reviews. Or don’t, and waste your time with cheap crap, it’s your dime.

It is worth noting the sizeable number of negative reviews from verified buyers of these. Many are reporting the masks are flimsy, tear easily, come in packages that appear to be tampered with, are dirty, smell of toxic chemicals that make people lightheaded, and are produced in China (Wuhan even). Moreover, a number of reviewers state it takes a long time to receive (“months” according to some), if they ever do arrive. If it were one or two disgruntled customers, one might dismiss these as outliers, but there are many dozens of critical reviews among these 3 postings. When 30% of customers give a 1-star review, it should give one pause.

All of the listings have bad reviews and are shipped from Wuhan, China….

Many of these off brand masks are not approved/certified by FDA or any other reputable agency and have questionable implications for health.

Not sure whether it would be a good idea to push or to refrain from these kind of posts?

100% chance of getting affected by the materials/processes of the mask vs very low chance of actually being exposed to the virus (multiplied by another questionable chance of being protected by these off brand non certified masks) isn’t always a net positive at the end of the day.

These types of masks are generally more about preventing others being infected by you, rather than vice versa. In many cases a mask of some type is also required

These are not the best option. If you trying to wear anything just because it’s required – sure, wear underwear over your head… idk.

If you care about preventing yourself from getting infected in any building, then get a real respirator that has a tight fit to your face and at least 95% efficiency in filtering PM2.5.

I didn’t say they were your best option. And again wearing masks in general is not about preventing YOU from getting affected, but stopping others from getting affected BY you.

I have ones from early April that are still “in transit.” I’ve had to refund most of my Amazon ones.
