With the new language of not qualifying if you’ve had a Discover Savings bonus before, should I wait for $500 to come back?

I’ve been using Discover as my hub for about 3 years now, and my account was locked after trying to link a new checking account.

Went to the “Add an External Account” page to enter the routing and account numbers, and was instantly logged out after clicking the submit button. When logging back in, was told that my online account had been locked for security purposes and to call an 800 number.

To be fair, I was trying to link a brand new checking account from PNC (opened literally minutes prior), so that may have been what caused the lock. Didn’t like how the page was titled “Permanent Lock” though, but was able to unlock my account by verifying my info with the agent. Call took about a half hour.

Have others experienced this? Never had an issue adding accounts in the past. Wonder if this is related to the whole Ally debit card fraud thing. Hope this won’t become a trend moving forward since that would mean I need to find a new hub account. 🙁

Vanson. I have experienced this as well at Discover with a month old account.
Discover ext account linking in the past has been very smooth even with new accounts and linking happens in the background.
Not related to Ally Debit fraud perhaps. May be its a blanket rule they have added to their system or may be its a bug.
All in all very inconvenient!

Opened an account and transfered 50k. After a few days, they closed my account due to “business decision” with my funds still in them! Called them and they don’t give me any more information about why it was closed. Now I have to wait 60 days for them to send me a check with my money back!
