[Expired] Amazon, Target: Apple AirTags 4-Pack For $74.99

(Update 11/21/22: Amazon and Target are down to $74.99. If you bought yesterday it should be possible to return or buy again or you can try chatting and asking for the difference back.)

Amazon and Walmart are selling Apple AirTags on sale: (affiliate links below)

Compare on Apple for $99. Especially interesting is if you can stack and additional savings with one of the Amazon shop-with-points deals. And get 5% back with the Amazon and Target cards.

Anyone looking at this deal should look at the Chipolo One Spot instead. It is one of 3 companies with licenses to the Apple Find My network so it has exact same functionality as the AirTag through the Find My app, but has a hole so you don’t need to buy another thing to attach the tag to your belongings. It also has longer range and louder alerts. Only downside is lack of UWB which is super gimmicky and only works within like 10 feet anyway, and you can just use sound to find it then. Currently selling as a 4 pack for $60 for a better product.

I was not aware Apple had licensed this technology, thanks for the suggestion. What are the other companies? Do any of them have any clear advantages over the Apple-branded trackers?

The advantage of the Chipolo and the Eufy tags are that they have little holes in them so you can attach them to a keyring without a separate accessory. The AirTags are just little discs and require a case in order to clip them to something. They work fine as-is if you’re just throwing them in a bag, but to track your keys you’ll need to buy the case.

The third party tags don’t support the direction-finding feature that is supposed to help you find the tags when you’re nearby. Instead you can make them play a sound – that seems just as good to me.

If considering those, be sure to read up on how they work when locating items within the Find app. There are a couple extra steps when needing to find the item.. On the plus side, they are really loud.

@0x539 – It does look like a better product, but…where do you see 4-packs of the Chipol ONE Spot being sold for $60? On amazon I only see them for $28 each. On chipolo’s website I see a 4-pack for $79…

To clarify a couple things – the Chipolo One SPOT DOES work with Apple’s Find My. However, they’re 4 for $79 at Chipolo’s website. Chipolo also has the Chipolo One (non-Spot) that does NOT work with Apple’s Find My network – those are 4 for $55 on the same website.

Another tag that uses Apple’s Find My network is Anker/Eufy Security SmartTrack Link. They’re only available on the Eufy website at $40 for 2 but they’re sold out until February.

I’m not sure what the third company with the Find My license is.

Here’s a question about the AirTags, not this deal: They are supposed to let you know in real time where your luggage is, right? With all the mess at airports recently, is there anybody here who actually had an advantage using these? I mean, did they get their luggage returned because they could tell someone in the airport or elsewhere the exact location?

It can give you a general idea where the luggage is and if it actually made it onto the plane. If you have the Find My app open, you can tell when the luggage is close to the carrousel, so you don’t have to look for your luggage before it comes out.

Lots of anecdotes online where people told the airline the exact location and their lost luggage was mysteriously found quickly afterwards.

I was able to hang back while everyone crowded the carousel and know exactly when to dart in. Worth $100? Probably not. Kinda neat though.

I use AirTags for this exact purpose. When the gate agent tries to tell you that the stroller or car seat or suitcase is going to baggage claim or your final destination when it was supposed to be gate-checked and delivered planeside, I can tell them with 99% certainty that it is still in the plane waiting for someone to bring it up. This has saved me several times in the US and Europe. Easily worth $25 per bag.

Paypal10 coupon at Walmart works to bring it down to $69.99

Just an FYI- Best Buy has them at 89.99 but won’t price match because they are within the holiday season in case someone tries to do that for the Amex/Chase offers. I tried. Dumb rule.

Chuck the title says 84.99 instead of the 79.99 price.

Was hoping these would pop up on sale again. Great price.

I price matched at Target for $84.55 and got a second for 30% off of $84.55, making them each ~$71 with my Target card and other discounts. Paid $140 total for 2 4-packs and a funko pop on clearance for $6! 🤪

Be careful with those things…they are really handy to have…however…they are also being used by criminals to track things. They are being found in luxury vehicles, on victims of theft, rape, and are being used by stalkers on a frequent basis. No matter what the new technology is…some scumbag is going to find a way to use it to their advantage. Just fyi…WWJD

That is happening where the attacker buys them and associates them with their account. If you buy them and associate them with *your* account then nothing bad will happen.

I did a price match with Best Buy, took 24 mins by chat, ugh. They made an exception because their sale was an ‘hourly sale’ so maybe use Amazon (Walmart isn’t an eligible retailer). They also want the name on the account, phone and email, if that helps streamline the chat process.

walmart isn’t an eligible retailer? I was able to price match with walmart. How can you offer price match and exclude walmart from eligible stores?

Nice, it’s not included as a retailer: “At the time of sale, we price match all local retail competitors (including their online prices), and we price match products shipped from and sold by these major online retailers: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com, Dell.com, HP.com and TigerDirect.com.” https://www.bestbuy.com/site/customer-service/price-match-guarantee/pcmcat290300050002.c

But the first 4-pack is regular $100 for 4, the savings is only $20
