Amazon No-Rush Digital Credits Will No Longer Work on Gift Cards

Amazon offers a no-rush shipping credit where you get a free credit to use on select categories when you choose a slower shipping option. The credit ranges from $1 to $10 and only works on select categories.

The most common offer is to get a $1 digital credit, applicable to select eBooks, digital music, videos, and apps from the Amazon Appstore. And you can even use multiple $1 credits on a single purchase. A known idea was to use the digital credits to buy XBOX, PSN and various other digital gift cards.

The news came in today on SD that Amazon has updated the terms for digital credits going forward, and the new credits don’t work anymore on digital gift cards.

No-Rush old terms:

Rewards may not be used for the purchase of software subscriptions.

No-Rush new terms:

Rewards may not be used for the purchase of software subscriptions, gift cards, digital video games or memberships.

The older digital credits with expiration date in September still continue to work on gift cards, but the new October credits are not working, as stated in the terms.

Bummer, only useful now if you’re interested in one of the regular digital items on Amazon’s Appstore.

They still work on Kindle ebooks, as far as I know. The new terms and conditions don’t exclude them, although they might exclude Kindle Unlimited subscriptions.

Yeah, that’s where mine go. Saving on books is great and a stretch to say only useful for digital items in appstore.

Bummer. I used them regularly to stock up on PSN credit.

Lately, I only got useless prime now credits anyways: you can’t combine them and they don’t even cover what you’d feel obligated to tip the poor guy who has to drive up to my house bringing me garbage that I don’t really need within 2 hours.

Not only do they not work on gaming credits, they no longer work on games in general. A huge devaluation.

I know I’m in the minority – but I actually prefer the $5 prime now credit… It basically covers the Tip for the driver, with the net effect being I get free 2 hour delivery from Amazon. Prime Now tends to have stuff that I plan to buy about 50% of the time. Considering these don’t expire till Dec 31st 2018, I’m sure I’ll get through them. Hopefully they don’t offer these options to those not in actual Prime Now markets!

100% agree on Prime Now credit. $5 credit on the MM GC deals might be the only thing enticing me to renew Prime @ $119/yr. I don’t really get much value from the 2 day shipping.

I’m popping in small grocery orders with Prime Now a few times per week to use mine up, paying under $10 even with $4.99 2hr delivery. Surprisingly prices are pretty competitive and they do have some good bargains buried in there. The recent free cereal deal has been incredible.
