eBay announced a new policy to stop allowing the sale of any gift cards on the site, starting November 12, 2026. The following items will no longer be allowed on eBay:
-
-
- Collectable, empty, used, unactivated or expired gift cards
- Digital gift cards and gift card codes
- eBay gift cards
- Gift certificates and vouchers with a monetary value
- Merchant and service gift cards
- Open-loop and prepaid payment products
- Prepaid gaming cards and gaming-platform gift cards
-
Interesting to see the change. Probably due to fraud prevalence.
This is separate from their prior announcement in August to discontinue their own sale of eBay gift cards on any platform.
