To all of you saying that giftcards/vouchers/miles will go away with bankruptcy, I don’t believe it. It would piss off a large portion of the flying population to do that, and it would make all of their actual money making areas worthless (i.e., their credit card partners).

It just won’t happen.

I recommend that you dump your miles and especially cash in any gift certificates you may have. Unless the US and other countries follow the example of Sweden, airlines will go broke. It’s simple math. Also watch for restaurants going broke, especially in NY, because who’s going to ‘eat outside’ in the middle of winter?

Last big bankruptcy was AA and the miles survived. But yeah, I would try to use the GCs/vouchers asap.

“Unless the US and other countries follow the example of Sweden…”
What do you mean? What has Sweden done with the airline industry?

Nothing, he is just an antimask antilock down individual that has to plug his message everywhere possible.

He is probably a trump voter too.

Nothing against masks, but lockdowns worked where? Only in China where the citizens have no rights.

lockdowns worked in Italy and Spain, where the situation was really really bad.

There is more Covid in Spain, France, and Germany now than in the Spring. Italy is getting closer.

This does not tell you that lockdowns dont work. This just means you have too many rights. You already wear clothes to cover yourself, under threat of incarceration for disobedience i might add, when told by an authority. It’s time to wear your face underwear too.

lockdown works in China means lockdown works. It doesn’t fit America. Every country needs to find its own solution. South Korea and Taiwan have decent contact tracing and PREEMPTIVE actions. It’s the people yelling rights left and right dragging America behind in COVID. Taiwanese use ID to buy facemask. South Korea uses intrusive cell phone GPS to contact tracing. Either action will be boycotted by Americans. It’s Bill of Rights makes the country great; also Bill of Rights make America a COVID heaven

@Andrew ” It’s Bill of Rights makes the country great”
Great for who? You make it appear these rights apply to everyone. We all know that’s not true.

@Michael. I’m pretty sure those citizens have as many rights as in the USA, at least in this current regime. Protest in China, you get arrested. Protest in USA, you get arrested or shot, depending on what you look like.

@Chris. Thank you. I just checked the numbers, and the other three Scandinavian countries have about 1,300 deaths combined. Sweden, which attempted herd immunity, has 6,000.
Globally, countries that has leaders who are anti-maskers have the highest infections and deaths, such as USA, UK, Brazil, and Russia.

Full healthcare and basic universal income for everyone. Wealth tax on the rich. Labor camp for the filthy rich if they didn’t happily give away some of their wealth.

Everyone is very generous there now.

Easier to become an elite but still the same benefits for elite (or lack thereof), right?

Aren’t they making basic economy fares not eligible for mileage too? That’s a bummer.

That is nice, but the most positive change would be if they manage to avoid bankruptcy and AAdvantage mile devaluation. Looks pretty grim out there.
