American Express Adds Ability To Pay With Points At Boxed (0.7¢ Per Point Making It Useless)

American Express has added another ‘pay with points’ partner in Boxed.com. You can now use your membership rewards points to pay for boxed purchases, unfortunately the rate you receive is still 0.7¢ per point so this isn’t something I’d recommend anybody actually do. I recently said the partnership they made with Expedia to offer the same functionality as useless and I maintain that position with this addition as well.

“APPLEPAY” is good for 10 or 15 percent off. Can’t remember. You have to check out with Apple pay but use your amex and it still trigger’s Amex offers no problem

The other day i passed from the highway Boxed wearhouse in NJ.
Its a pretty looking building from the outside with shiny green BOXED letters.
Also i saw a lot of people inside/outside. I wonder if you can order for pickup.

I wonder how Amex MR points can be such bad value (pay with points, cash redemptions etc) and such good value (transfer partners esp with bonuses) at the same time. Maybe this is a reflection of how much Amex (and for that matter Chase and Citi) really buys these airline miles in bulk for.

Because cash is less valuable than stock. Once comes with risk and the other doesn’t come with obvious risks.
