American Express has announced that Platinum & Centurion cardholders will be able to make a restaurant reservation at more than 10,000 restaurants in the American Express app. To begin with a small portion of the cardmember base will be given access to this feature with all cardholders being granted access in early 2020. This feature builds off American Express’ acquisition of Resy, Pocket Concierge and Cake Technologies. Unfortunately cardmembers do not get access to preferential treatment when looking to reserve a table (in my opinion this is the main reason people like being able to use a concierge), although preferential treatment is still available via the global dining collection.
