American Express Blue Business Plus 15,000 Points Signup Bonus When Using Referral Link

The Blue Business Plus card now offers a 15,000 points signup bonus with $5,000 in spend when signing up with a referral link. It doesn’t matter if your friend has the BBP card or any other card, you can click through and access the 15,000 points offer. Previously, the signup offer via referral was 10,000 points with $3,000 spend.

Lots of people like to put spend on the BBP card anyway for the ordinary 2x earn, so the extra $2,000 spend requirement isn’t all that bad. Ideally, your friend/P2 will have a card that earns 20,000 points for the referrer; altogether, you’ll net a combined 35,000 points on the signup which is as good as it’s ever been.

Offer is slated to end on 1/29/20. Some are reporting still seeing the old 10k offer, so it might be YMMV.

(Separately, the BBP card earns 15,000 points when you refer from that card. That’s been the case for some time already. Other cards earn even 20,000 points, as noted.)

Do not leave referrals in the comments.

The article says “It doesn’t matter if your friend has the BBP card or any other card, you can click through and access the 15,000 points offer.” I don’t have the BBP, but have a few other Amex cards. I want to refer my wife for this card so that we can both earn some points. But when I go to my “Refer a Friend, Reward Yourself” in my Amex online account, I can only refer for the Amex cards that I have. So how do I generate a referral for the BBP card to send to my wife to use?

Yes, definitely. I’ve gotten at least 3 (might have been 4) Amex cards in one day (although that was a few years ago).

Too soon. Me and others have gotten completely banned out of producing these for self-ref.

No gift card purchases of any kind allowed with this card, ever, according to their terms.

Since when? Many Amex Offers apply to this card and say “no bulk gift card purchases”, but onesies and twosies are fine according to those rules.

This is what their terms for that card state:

“Eligible purchases do NOT include fees or interest charges, balance transfers, purchases of travelers checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, purchases of gift cards; person-to-person payments or purchases of other cash equivalents.”

I agree, one or two is probably not a concern for them.

From personal experience, that isn’t enforced, or if so very rarely.

Agreed. I don’t think it’s gift cards per se that’s really a problem for Amex. Fraud, churners, etc. are.

P2 got the “you’re not eligible for the bonus” popup after receiving Marriott biz & Hilton biz SUB in the past 12 months (no other Amex history)
