Original post below:

Not sure if this is new, or how new this is but the American Express Business Platinum page is showing the new metal design for the card. I also have no idea if this means that American Express are shipping metal cards to new cardholders or not and what the roll out will be for existing cardholders. Although I don’t see why they would add the new design to the site if they didn’t plan to roll it out soon/immediately.

Hopefully they don’t run out of metal business cards when it does become available. Also just a reminder that you can get 100,000 point bonuses on both the personal and business versions of this card currently.

WTF I just got mine in the mail today, I can’t wait to call and ask for a replacement

  2. Jonathan K says:

New metals cards coming.. I heard it from the rep directly a few days ago. I think they wanna make sure they have enough metal for all card holds first.

  3. WR says:

Yawn..does anyone really still get excited about a metal card? I would prefer the opposite: a lightweight, smaller profile card.

  4. Floyd says:

In speaking with an online rep, it sounds like there will likely be new benefits added as well. I tried asking for more info, but they can’t comment on it until their “back end team” provides details about them.

  5. prussiablue says:

Ugh, I have to say that I like the silver plastic version of my Plats much better than the metal one.

    • I think you can opt to receive a non metal version from memory (would be surprised if you can’t as it’s cheaper for American Express).

      • Stephen says:

Well, comparing cost of print, yes, it would be cheaper. But on the whole, moving one card to an exceptions process to print plastic when the bulk print metal takes someones time and/or energy. The alternative is taking extra time/money in the beginning to automate such a process.

  6. Jason says:

I wish they would correctly credit the 50% rebate on airfare. hate wasting time to call it in. this card is saving me so much money. who cares about the card material/design?

  7. Hugo says:

Does David Kinch of Manresa really use a Biz Plat? :O

  8. Don says:

Just got new card 8/8 and it was plastic. I asked about metal and rep said about 1 to 2 months, but no mention of benefit changes. I just wanted the 100K points offered.

  9. P says:

It doesn’t even matter that it’s metal considering the airline credit is even more useless now that gift cards purchases from airlines are not getting reimbursed.

  10. DGS says:

I like the new design because it doesn’t have the EMV chip cutting into the Centurion design. Then again it looks too much like the personal Card. I’d like to see the design changes on the other Amex Biz Cards. Thoughts?

  11. T says:

You can now request metal amex business cards online

  12. NinjaX says:

NO AMEX! CMON! raise your damn AF to $550 and give us the 50% rebate back! or better rewards structure, or sick ass insurance. thats how you troll Chase…

  13. Leo says:

The inner post-Millenial in me is just dying for another metal card to stick it to the Man and show everyone that even though I still live in mom’s basement, I have a very priveledged metal card that I can use when I eat out every meal.

    • NinjaX says:

i agree. and thats how i impress the upper class hotties at strip clubs. they always give me so much attn when i bust out my solid hard metal cards. it works like a charm. they probably realize that i am man with exquisite taste. it also helps to clean out MSR easily and RAT would never know what I did there since L3 data is not available. even if it was, i dont see anything excluding those activities in the T&Cs. my only concern is when i visit Simon’s Gentlemens Club, they may clawback my points by mistake. i am not sure how to explain that gift cards were not purchased there and all the high dollar volume was legitimate spend.

  14. Grant says:

Regarding “Existing cardholders can request a new card (log in, click account services and then ‘Request Metal Card”.

You actually need to log in, click Account Services tab, click Order a Replacement Card for Damaged, Lost, or Stolen Cards, select the primary business card, and then select Request Metal Card (Your Card will be reissued and you can continue using your existing Card until the metal replacement arrives.)

  15. Bob says:

Are these shipping with the wooden phone holder?

  16. jqsmooth says:

hahaha. i ordered it and got it. i know it’s just a card. but… it makes me feel like…. i’m somebody. lol

  17. Michael H says:

My wife just got her card in the mail, and it was metal.

What blows my mind is that is shows she gets the first year AF waived on a 75000 point bonus offer.

    Why didn’t I get that?!?
