The American Express Centurion has added a new $1,000 Resy credit in the form of four $250 quarterly credits. Also known as the American Express Black Card this card carries a $5,000 annual fee, $10,000 initiation fee and is invite only.
Despite those high fees it’s basically just a Platinum card. The only other differences are that it comes with:
- Hertz Platinum
- Delta Platinum
- Hilton Diamond
- Two annual visits to Private Suite airport terminals
I’m surprised American Express is changing the value proposition on this card, it’s really just a status symbol at this stage and I doubt anybody that holds the card really cares about the additional credits. Maybe it’s a sign that Centurion cardholders are switching to the Platinum? Or maybe they want to drive Centurion cardholders to use Resy more frequently.
