American Express Changes Free Weekend Night Certificate To Be Usable Any Night

American Express has informed cardholders that the ‘Hilton Honors Weekend Night Reward’ will be renamed to ‘Hilton Honors Free Night Reward’ and will be redeemable any night of the week. During the pandemic this change was already made for 2021 & 2022, but it’s good to see that this is now a permanent change.

This is Amex, so someone needs to make sure the free night isn’t alloted as 2 free hours per month.

If I downgraded my aspire last month is it fine if I upgrade back now? will that Amex be cool wit this?

Permanent change? The only thing permanent about Amex’s changes is their impermanence.
Best to churn through all your free night certificates before Amex churns through its executive leadership and decides to change its mind.

Great news! I guess I’m going to upgrade my other 3 Hilton cards for a total of 4 Aspires. I wish AmEx also gave me an upgrade offer though…

Don’t even wait for an upgrade offer. If you are good enough you will be able to recoup the entire AF plus change.

I always cash out the airline credit via Southwest or United Travel Bank, and the resort credit is easily utilized over 2 trips (P2’s and mine Aspires are going to pay the parking fees and some meals in Hawaii later this month). With a free night at top-level Hiltons, this card is a $300-$400 money-maker in my book; I’m surprised it hasn’t been nerfed, hopefully I can ride this gravy train for a few more years.

you just buy a $250 Southwest GC and it triggers? Just want to confirm, thanks. Had Aspire in the past…also going to HI coincidentally

No gift cards don’t work. Not for a few years now

Buying airfare below $103 and canceling it for Travel Funds has worked for me so far.

Continuing to like Hilton more and more over Marriott O.O

In a year, you’ll be eating those words when both Hilton and Marriott get nerfed again.
