American Express Platinum Cards: Earn 5x Membership Rewards Points on Airbnb Bookings via AmEx Travel

We wrote about the new benefit on American Express Platinum and Business Platinum to allow AirBnB Luxe bookings with the $600 annual credit. Also to give a $250 AirBnB Experiences credit for AirBnB Luxe bookings booked via AmEx Travel.

I thought it worth highlighting separately that you can actually book any regular AirBnB booking with AmEx Travel or the AmEx Travel App. And these bookings will earn 5x Membership Rewards points when paid with the personal Platinum card or Business Platinum card, just like prepaid hotel bookings done in AmEx Travel.

An easy way to get 5x points on AirBnB bookings is interesting. AirBnB bookings often rack up quite a bill so I thought it worth highlighting here separately.

Some people try accruing AirBnB gift cards at a discount and then using those to travel. That can sometimes be a better deal than the 5x points from using Platinum on AmEx Travel.

You will also be giving up on the portal by using AmEx Travel, but I’m not seeing many options for that currently.
