Expired: Even though the below link still works, it seems like this bonus has expired. Ben left us a comment letting us know that he had applied for this card and was denied because the promotion he applied for has expired.
The American Express Platinum card usually comes with an annual fee of $450 and 50,000 points. At the moment it might be able to get the annual fee waived for the first year, but there is a reduced sign up bonus of 25,000 points.

Our Verdict
American Express only allows you to get the sign up bonus on each of their cards once. They often have targeted offers where this card comes with a sign up bonus of 100,000 points, the annual fee of $450 is not waived though. I personally value 75,000 MR points at more than $450 so I won’t be signing up for this promotion. If you haven’t received one of these targeted offers, we’d recommend checking your special offers with American Express.
If you don’t like the idea of paying the $450 or are considering going for the 40,000 public offer currently available then this will be a much better alternative. As always there is some risk in using this link as it’s supposed to only be for
Additional card holders also get the Global Entry/TSA Pre check fee credit and the annual fee of $175 is waived for the first year, so this could also be a good option to get that reimbursed for your spouse/partner (additional card holders do not get the airline credit).
I personally don’t think this card is worth keeping past the first year, or putting every day spend on it because it earns at such a slow rate (even with the 5,000 point bonus. You’d be much better off going with the EveryDay preferred which earns 1.5x points on all purchases if you hit 30 purchases per month).
We’ve updated our master list of CC bonuses to include this offer.
