American Express has sent out an e-mail to some Marriott cardholders regarding points that didn’t post properly. It seems this relates to the 8x on gas, 8x on restaurants and 4x on Marriott purchases deal. I suspect originally these weren’t posting due to gift card purchases and now they are posting because enough people complained/threatened legal action (no idea if the original terms excluded these purchases or not).

At least Amex makes an effort at fixing their problems. I wish it worked right from the start though.
I received this note from Amex. No gift card purchases for me. I actually have no idea of the amount of points they are crediting or what its for. I think I only recently used this card for the restaurant credits they had on it for the first 6 months this year. Mayby they are giving me points on the amount amex credited.

I got a similar email yesterday for my Delta Platinum card, and I can’t even remember what the bonus point offer was. Sounds like an audit at AMEX caught something?
I got this email. The issue must have been broader than gift card purchases since I did not buy any with this card.
Same here. I got this email, just looked over my transactions from that period and I don’t see anything that involved gift cards.
