Amex Offers: $50 off $200 at NeimanMarcus.com – Moneymaker

The Offer

There’s a new offer from Amex showing in all Amex logins:

  • Spend $200 at neimanmarcus.com with an enrolled card and get a $50 statement credit

Screen Shot 2017-01-17 at 11.17.01 AM

The Fine Print

  • Valid through 3/16/17
  • Valid online only
  • Not valid on purchases shipped outside of the US
  • Excludes NM Last Call website and stores

Our Verdict

The terms don’t exclude gift cards which makes this is one of those easy reselling moneymakers. Neiman gift cards can be resold for around 83% of their value.

Added to that, there have been many successes with the portal on NM gift card purchases. Be aware that the portal terms always exclude gift cards so consider the portal an added bonus if it comes through.

Given the current rates, you’d net $16 per Amex card + the portal if it comes through.

Keep in mind that the resell rates on these cards will likely tank since this offer is available to all, and it’s more than likely that you won’t actually get 83% by the time your cards come.

Also note that physically shipped gift cards have a shipping fee of $5 per card. E-cards ship free but might be harder to sell on some exchanges.

Check out these Things to Know about Amex Offers.

Update: Shopping portals are now clawing back portals earnings so the portal angle is out.

Peter
Peter

it says 24 hours. will see if it actually takes that long

Mine took 3 hours. I ordered 3 of them around 12:30 and received the three emails at 3:37pm

At first glance this seemed like a good idea however…

I sell my e-gift cards on Raise and their policy is to hold each e-gift card for 30-45 days before being able to sell it. I doubt I would make money being that this offer is available to so many people so not touching.

I bought $1K of NM e-gift cards in December on my Freedom card. Earned 5K UR points plus 18x UA miles (big portal bonus that day). It took a few weeks but the miles did eventually post. I can see scenarios where it’s worth it sometimes.

Have the rules changed recently? I ask because I have sold lots of ecards to raise and the only ones that ever had a hold out on them were travel related, like southwest. I can’t imagine many people selling to them if all egc had such a long hold.

The multi tab trick just stopped working for me

MrDioji

Yeah I wasn’t able to do it. I wasn’t blazing fast, but historically I didn’t need to be too fast and I would get through a few tabs. Didn’t work between tab 1 and 2 this time.

Try multi-browser. It worked for me.

I just did the multi-tab trick 5 minutes ago, on Chrome. Strange how 2 people failed.

Scratch that I am a complete moron!

I have had this issue at times. Try using firefox. I seem to have better luck with it. Also, I have noticed more issues when using a faster internet connection at work.

Worked just now on two cards. Two Chrome browser windows, not incognito, open side by side, each for a different Amex card. Clicked the “Add to Card” button for the NM offer in both windows probably 1/2 second apart and the offer shows in the list of ‘Added to Card’ offers for both cards. Looked 10 seconds later at a 3rd card and the offer was NOT in the available list.

At what point did we decide to pull the goalie on these deals? TPM? GCW?

Mike’s hubris and greed gutted what used to be high margins and no little shutdown risk. When Amex Offers die, hopefully we can all use the last one at Pitchforks.com

What’s TPM? What does the site GCW have to do with this? Who’s Mike?

multi-tab trick only worked for 2/3 cards. last one said it wasn’t available when i clicked on it

not really the best deal for the amount of risk since you have to pay $10 shipping on the gift card order. I’m passing on this one

why the comment about not getting 83% by the time you get your card? There’s no exclusion for e-gift cards in the terms so the card should arrive electronically and can be sold the same way.
am I missing something?

Peter

it says the egift cards may take up to 24 hours to arrive, so maybe that’s what they’re referring to. Given that neiman jumped to the number one site on giftcardwiki, lot of people doing this. Hopefully enough people are doing the physical gift cards to avoid the resale value from crashing too soon!

“Keep in mind that the resell rates on these cards will likely tank since this offer is available to all, and it’s more than likely that you won’t actually get 83% by the time your cards come.”

Why bother telling people this? Let them learn the hard way…

MrDioji

…because this is a site based on helping people?

Besides, if it scares off some folks, then -hey- maybe it won’t dip as much.

I’d wait more dp now, resell isnt big deal, 10-15% off should be easy to sell

Yeah, that $10 for shipping smarts. Their front page does display free shipping/free returns as well.

I’ve purchased several NM e-gc in the past through various portal deals, and they’ve always posted. I also took advantage of the UA 18x on Christmas Eve and got the miles recently. But I’ve never used a cash back portal. TCP currently has 9.6% (+20% of that, so 11.5%), which isn’t bad. FM’s Lab doesn’t have recent datapoints on cashback (non-Cartera) portals. Anybody with experience with that?
Regarding when the e-gc arrives, I made my last purchase on 12/24 in the evening and got the email on 12/27 early AM. I don’t remember it taking this long in the past, maybe the delay was because of the portal bonus as well as the holiday/weekend.

It’s only 9.6%, that comes from the added 20% of 8%. Just FYI.

Bought $2k worth of eGCs across 10 Amex cards today between 12:45pm-1:10pm EST. All eGCs were delivered to my inbox around 3pm EST. Just sold them to ABC for 83% to give me a $160 profit (I’ll do one more Amex card once my wife gets home, so maybe a $176 profit). ABC has already confirmed them and is mailing my check today. Thanks DoC!

Also, I went through TCB for 9.6% cashback. If that tracks/posts that’ll be another $192 profit. Not really hopeful on that front, but it’ll be extra sweet if it does. I’ll update if/when I see it track.

Any reason to use these checkout services instead of just putting in the card into? Thanks.

Bought five gift cards this afternoon and received all within two hours.

It looks like one of my saved offers didn’t save properly. I definitely saw it on my added list but when I didn’t get the email, I checked back and it was showing as an available offer. I quickly added it again, but that was about 3 hours after I made the purchase. Has this happened to anyone else before? Does Amex still honor it if it is same day?

Bought 4 x $50 NM GC’s around Noon today, got them about 3 hrs later, sold them for $166 on ABC.

$16 profit + AMEX points, all without leaving my desk Thanks DoC!
