[Expired] Amex Offers: Boxed get $20 or 2,000 MR with $75 Purchase [Targeted] + 6 Ways to Stack the Deal

This deal has expired and is unfortunately no longer available. Never miss another deal again by signing up for free and instant notifications of new posts.

The Offer

There’s a new round of Amex Offers for Boxed showing on some Amex cards:

  • Get 2,000 Amex Membership Rewards points with a $75 purchase at Boxed.com
  • Get a $20 statement credit with a $75 purchase at Boxed.com

The Fine Print

  • Expires 12/31/17
  • $75 threshold can be met in a single purchase or across multiple purchases
  • Offer valid at Boxed.com/business, Boxed.com/express, Boxed.com or on the Boxed mobile app
  • Excludes Boxed Hotels (hotels.boxed.com)

Stacking the Deal

The beauty of Boxed is always the deal stacking. I’ll write what comes to mind and we’ll add in whatever other stacks readers mention.

  1. Spend $75 and get $20/2k-MR back with this Amex deal.
  2. Get $15 off $60 for your first order by using a referral link. If you want to share your link or use another readers, go here. Please do not put referrals in the comments of this post.
  3. Get $20 back in the form of Drop points (can be redeemed for Amazon gift cards) when linking a card and spending $50 on Boxed.com. (Terms there state it can’t be combined with other offers, but hopefully it’ll stack.)
  4. Get 10% back using the Ibotta portal; otherwise, you can use an ordinary online shopping portal, currently at lower rates (my Ibotta referral link if you’re new there, thanks; you can get a $10 bonus for joining).
  5. Acorns App stacks for another 4% cash back (find an Acorns referral here)
  6. Get 3% in boxed cash rewards and free shipping as American Express cardholder
  7. Lots of promo codes that might work – let us know which work and if you have any others:
    • JUSTFORHIM for 20% off
    • SEEYOUSOON for $4 off
    • PEPSI gives you $15 off $79, don’t need to have pepsi products in cart for it to work
    • Samsung Pay instant win redemption for 10 SP points that instantly emails a $10 off $50+ purchase code to you
  8. There’s also an Amex Offer to get double MR’s at Boxed, so you’ll end up with a few extra points from that. Some people got a targeted email for 5x as well.

Our Verdict

This deal is targeted, I got a sprinkling of MR and cash offers on some cards. So far when I once tried using Boxed on a mostly-gc purchase and they cancelled. I couldn’t find enough regular stuff to buy and I probably won’t use this. It’s a nice offer for those who can find items they’ll use.

It appears further up in the comments some had issues stacking with Drop.

Can I still go through ibotta to shop and then pay with my Amex card to use the Amex and Drop offers?

JUSTFORHIM and SEEYOUSOON did not work for me. PEPSI works only for first timers.

Did anyone else notice that all of the latest Amex Offers are targeted? It has to be at least a few months since the last Amex Offer that was available for Twitter sign up.

If this continues (and it appears that it will) our 3rd party Amex credit cards (ie BBVA Compass Amex) will be mostly useless. Of course that card is a bad example because it has its own targeted offers but you get the point.

BTW, none of my Amex cards were targeted for this Boxed offer.

How does the referral money work? Does it automatically get applied to my order? Would it possibly bring me below the threshold for the amex offer to work?

It is a discount off of the order so you need to spend $15 more than the Amex Offer. For example if your total is $90 before applying the promo code the $15 will come off and your credit card will be charged for $75 and you will receive the $20 (or 2000 MR).

The key for the Amex Offer is having your credit card get charged for at least $75 (including tax) so don’t submit the order until you confirm that your final total (after any discounts) is $75+.

I made a similar post over on my referral link comment on the other Boxed offer page but: I just did Boxed offer stack <2 weeks ago. Had Amex offer for $100 cashback on $300 (has since expired), enabled the Drop 20k points mentioned above, used a referral link, and BeFrugal 2%. I could have maximized additionally through Ibotta instead of BeFrugal but such is life. Also Got $3.05 in Boxed cashback, and ~300 SkyMiles from my card (unfortunately I didn't have the $100/$300 Amex offer on the same card that had +1MR at Boxed.)

I got a mobile notification from Drop that I redeemed the offer, but it hasn't credited there yet, and it tracked as click activity through BeFrugal but didn't immediately go pending – I have a support ticket open on this now. I'm really hoping the Drop 20k works out!

Best of luck with your offer stacking, everyone! And if anyone has used a referral link and also gotten the Drop credit, please share.

Update:

Not sure if anyone will see this, but my 20k Drop offer was REJECTED, presumably because I used a referral link code, after the charge being pending for several days.

If you see this, Doc, you may want to update the post

Did they give that as a reason? Was nothing that said they were excluded.

Will, I just forwarded the rejection email I got to you. For anyone else reading this:

It wasn’t specific but said the offer didn’t qualify because one of these reasons:

1. Illegitimate earning
2. A refund or cancellation
3. Points were earned through unqualified spending

It’s not clear to me what the difference is between reasons 1 and 3. But I didn’t buy any gift cards or refund anything, so I’m fairly certain the referral link I used made it invalid. I guess there’s an off-chance clicking into Boxed.com through BeFrugal could have invalidated it

Update #2: Drop 20k ended up posting on Boxed purchase using referral code promotion ($15 for first time buyer and referrer). Prior post mentioning rejection email was in reference to a second Boxed purchase.

It took a bit over two weeks and disappeared from pending but ended up posting. Thankfully

Does anyone know a promotional code that works? The ones listed are not working for me

Anyone know if the referral bonus will stack with the Drop bonus offer? The Drop terms specifically say that it cannot be combined with other offers.

DP: Placed my order yesterday & used the $15 off $60 referral code. Got a notification today my 20,000 points with Drop are pending, so it looks like stacking isn’t an issue. I’ll end up getting $92.95 worth of product for $37.95, not terrible.

A note add to #6, Amex user no longer has 3x reward on Boxed, I emailed them few weeks ago and get back as below:

Thanks for reaching out. Boxed Bold was a limited time promotion that ended on 10/1/2017. We value our partnership with American Express and are looking into new and exciting ways to provide great offers to our customers. We’ll be sure to let you know about these upcoming offers. But don’t worry, you still have access to all the great benefits of shopping with Boxed, including free shipping on all orders of $49 or more, free samples and Cash Rewards.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

All the best (in bulk!),

Adri from Team Boxed

I hadn’t noticed that Boxed sells forever stamps. That would get you $52 right there, which seems close to the threshold, assuming it counts
