Our Verdict
An OK deal if you have a stay coming up, but not a big enough of a discount to get me to consider changing my booking behavior.

Hilton offers ~NEVER appear on Hilton cards. I’ve seen them ONCE, when I activated a newly opened card…
But one can generally add these offers when they appear on AmEx Connect – I can’t see them yet, it usually takes a week or two.
I have an existing reservation NOT booked directly. If I cancel and re reserve the rate is much higher. Will I get the credit if I use the offer or no?

My question is how strict they are about whether the reservation is made through the Hilton website or app, per the terms. My existing reservation was through Orbitz, not hilton.com.
I think it unlikely you’ll get the credit….but it can’t hurt to try. I really see little value in these offers that have so much fine print and then not allow you to take advantage of the better rates available to excercise the offer. I added the offer in case I “bump into” the credit by mistake, but I’ll not seek to use it purposely.
If you pay through Orbitz, the merchant isn’t Hilton.
Why would you think the offer would work if you don’t pay at the company mentioned in the offer??
As always, only available in the US. I prefer UR points as Chase doesn’t limit the hotels or any business to be within the US (most of times).
I didn’t see it has to be a US hotel only a US issued AMEX card. I’m hoping to get the credit to show this month from a November stay. Crossing my fingers.

Hilton current promotion is 3x base point if paying by Hilton card. If I split pay $250 with my plat card and rest on Hilton card, can I get 3x promotion?
No, amounts paid by a non-Hilton card only gets 2x points in that promotion.
Try adding the offer to your Hilton card from AmEx Connect.
Is the AAA Special Rate fine to use on this?
Yes.
My saved offer now shows that the end date is 12/31/2021, so Amex extended it at some point.
