Amex Rolls Out New Version of Transaction History which Includes Points Details

Amex has a new user interface available for the Activity/Transaction tab on their website which has the advantage of breaking down your point earnings immediately when the charge posts, no need to wait a statement or two to find out.

You need to select to preview the new/beta version which will likely become the default at some point down the road. You can easily switch back to the old version from within the preview.

Using the current (old) interface there’s also a trick to get the points information to show by searching a specific timeframe, as we’ve outlined in a previous post, but it has many limitations: doesn’t work on transactions within the past few days, only works on personal cards, and only on Membership Rewards cards. The new/beta interface works with all cards, and shows the points information as soon as the charge moves from Pending to complete.

The new interface does not have a Dispute option within the transaction history, as found on the current/old interface. Unless they add this feature, you’ll have to go to the Account Services tab and begin from there in order to dispute a charge under the new/beta system.

Some Reddit users note that the SPG business card seems to be having some technical issues whereby some transactions do not show points properly.

Still see about 10 days lag.

Also fully agree with other’s comments that the UI is ‘less than usable’ by having to click on every single transaction you want to see the points for.

Would like to see either that information exposed directly in the list or a some sort of icon indicating 2x, 5x, etc. (similar to how it displays the initials of the AU)

BTW: For me it works for both MR cards (Everyday and Premier) and a Blue Cash

SPG Biz, no points listed for BMO funding I did last month before I knew Amex had changed the T&C. I understand it won’t count toward MSR, but I thought it still earned 1x points. Also don’t see any points for a $40 GC I bought from Amazon this week.

This is hit and miss for me. Some cards (SPG Biz, Biz Rewards Gold) show points for all recent charges. Others (Blue Biz Plus, Everyday) show points for some charges, but not others.

I have a grocery store charge on the Everyday card that shows points, then 2 days later another charge at a different grocery store that shows no points. The charges were only $5 or so.

Hopefully they’ll get the bugs worked out soon.

I can confirm getting points on SPG Biz for GCM for a mid-March charge, and got points on the Blue Biz Plus in January for GCM. My statements close over the next few days so I’ll know for sure then.

Not working on my BGR card. Page tells me the info is unavailable. Works on co-branded cards though.

Why on earth would they make purchases of GCs earning 1x pts not count towards rewards? They are still getting swipe fees and not generating any additional expense.

It works in my amex platinum and Delta card. Nice!

There’s a discussion ongoing on Reddit with SPG points posting or lack there of. Some reports of GCM and GC not getting rewards, and at least one DP of a confirmed shortage of points vs spend for the month on their statement. I can confirm I’ve used the beta interface and my last two orders that posted are lacking rewards while ones from two weeks ago have. The statement these are on will cut next week, hopefully I get credited the full spend. To clarify, this is on SPG personal, not business.

Wonder when the APP will get this

They need to post earned points/cash back sooner, preferably on the day when the transaction posts(like capital 1), or at least on the statement close day. Their practice of delaying points for at least 2 billing cycles is way below industry standard.

At least we will know earlier which transactions “might” earn points.
