The Fine Print
- Valid until December 31st, 2015
- If you are enrolled in American Express’ program with Uber, you do not earn additional Membership Rewards® points on the portion of the fare covered by the $10 statement credit
- If you apply a promo code or Uber credit toward your payment for the ride, you will only receive the statement credit if the remaining balance is $20 or more
- Offer not available for redemption when you select to “Use Points” in the Uber app to pay for a ride
- Offer not valid on UberT in New York City, or other services in which payment does not occur via Uber’s app
Our Verdict
Previously American Express sync offers for Uber ($5 off $15+ and $10 off $10+) have included the language about it needing to be on a single ride, but gift card purchases have worked. What they didn’t include is the fact that your card needs to be synced with your Uber account which makes this offer a bit more tedious to complete. Still a 50% discount on Uber will be useful for a lot of people I imagine, so enroll sooner rather than later.
