- This offer is valid for coach and Acela Business Class seats only; no upgrades permitted.

- One child age (2-12) may accompany each adult at half the regular (full) adult rail fare.

Our Verdict
50% is as big as the discount gets from Amtrak as far as I know. I’m still not that familiar with Amtrak though, so if this isn’t a great deal (or at least as good as it looks) let me know in the comments.
The most important restrictions are that you can’t upgrade it later on to business or sleeper and that it’s non-refundable after 24 hours, even in e-voucher form, without 25% penalty at that point. Really makes it worth prioritizing Companion Fares for routes you might at least consider upgrading.
I was able to exchange a couple of Saver fare tix that I had bought on an earlier 30% off day in July. Nice savings, in the form of a voucher. Called and agent did the exchange for me. They’re always pleasant and efficient, in my experience. Thanks, DoC.
This is 50% off the Value fare. Most dates and routes and will have Saver fares available so this is not as great as it first appears but does still produce some screaming good deals.
is the 50% off valid on use of points? im guessing yes, because the points have a somewhat fixed price. but not too familiar with amtrak
The discount appears in the Saver fare bucket. Points are priced based on Value price so there is no points savings.
