Wow, 4cpp on sleeper rooms. Anyone know what the change/cancellation policy is now?
No change/cancellation fees through August 31 due to COVID19. But you do have to call and talk to a rep – if you cancel or modify online, the fee is still be deducted.
Re-booked my travel on the books (assuming it happens) and saved 12k points. Make sure you call to cancel your current booking to waive the change fee (due to COVID19). Modifying on Amtrak’s website doesn’t work.
Wow, sleeper room travel is not excluded in the terms. Just checked an overnight roomette booking from Tucson to Los Angeles on Sunday, August 16th, $187 cash or 4,839 points, that’s 3.86 cpp. Wish I had a trip to plan.

Nothing beats that BofA Amtrak MasterCard, amirite?!
Got a second Amtrak World Mastercard in August 2019 when BOA ran the 40K SUB briefly. I called BOA customer service asking if they could credit me points since I just missed that increased SUB with my first Amtrak Card in June 2019 when I got a 20K SUB, and the rep said no, but then he encouraged me to churn and apply for a second card.
I use Amtrak World Mastercard as a general hotel card because 2x on general travel x 3c/point (2.9c/point rate on sleeper redemptions plus a 5% points rebate from having the card) = 6% back on travel.
Hoping it comes back this Aug.
