Target has a special offer for those signing up for a REDcard:

  • Get a coupon for $50 off a $150 qualifying purchase when you are approved for a debit or credit REDcard in-stores and at Target.com between 4/7/19–4/20/19.

The Fine Print

  • The coupon will be mailed to approved cardholders with their REDcard and will be valid through May 25, 2019.
  • Excludes gift cards, prepaid cards, alcohol, milk, select baby products (DockATot, Halo, Owlet, Peg Perego, Philips Avent), select toys (Barbie Dreamhouse, Fisher-Price Imaginext Jurassic Rex, Hot Wheels Corkscrew Crash, Thomas & Friends Super Station), Elf on the Shelf, LEGO, L.O.L. Surprise House, Bose, JBL, Sonos, Apple, Fitbit, Tile, Google Home/Mini/Max, LG OLED TV, Samsung TVs, GoPro, DSLR cameras & lenses, mobile contracts, Nintendo hardware and Switch games, PS4 hardware, Xbox hardware, Red Dead Redemption II video games, Vitamix, Weber, Traeger, Tylenol pain relief, clinic & pharmacy, and Target Optical.
  • To qualify for coupon discount, the total must not include excluded products.

Our Verdict

If you’ve been meaning to signup for a REDcard, this would be a nice opportunity. You can get the credit version if you’d like, or save yourself the ding to your credit report and get the debit version. Past offers were for a $25 coupon.

REDcard doesn’t typically have any sort of signup bonus; people get it just for the 5% off at Target, faster shipping, and longer return window. They do sometimes have small bonuses available via shopping portals for signing up for a REDcard. Currently, I see Swagbucks offering $4 for signing up for a REDcard via their landing page, should stack with the coupon deal. Let us know if you see any other offers like that.

There are DPs that store credit cards doesn’t count towards Chase 5/24, but haven’t seen any feedback if Target Redcard is one of them. I may have to be the DP I want to see but just wondering if anyone has info on this.

My same thoughts man. I’m looking at this opportunity to get those headphones! It’s either the Redcard CC or the TD Bank Cash Visa Card that has a $200 sign up bonus after $500 in spend.

I just realized that the 5% off would only give $17.5 off. And the extra $50 coupon. Any credit card would get you close to the sign up bonus (at least $100) and at least 1% too. So this is not worth it unless you shop at Target regularly.

I never shop at target but I pulled the trigger on the debit card deal ONLY because The coupon stacked with a current 15% off furniture deal plus 5% off with the card plus 5% off your whole cart promo plus $5 GC When you bought 20$ worth of household goods. Did all this on my computer and picked up in store.

How did you get the $50 off coupon. I thought it was mailed with your debit card in the mail?

Most of what I buy at Target is groceries. Maybe take a look at their furniture (indoor or patio) or closet organization, if you have a need. Or non-Switch video games.

They mention a few brands of TV’s, but I imagine there are TV’s that would work for this deal?

Is it possible to get the sign up offer for the credit card version if you already have a debit card with them?

A warning for anyone you can get rejected for a debit card and get a hard pull. It happens to me twice, it’s is the only debit card that I got rejected in my life. At that time I had capital one credit card and another 2. The only issue in credit was a paid charge off in the previous 4 years but my credit score was on 670. After I apply to that I was apply to get othe credit cards. That was 4 years ago Im not sure if that changed.

I wonder if you can get the coupon for a debit card if you already have a credit card with them.
