Alaska Airlines/Hawaii Airlines Atmos’ loyalty program has launched something called ‘Atmos Communities‘. Users can join one community (and change once per year) and each community gives different benefits. There are six communities currently and two have restricted membership.
- Huaka‘i by Hawaiian. Exclusively for Hawaiian residents this gives Free bags, Neighbor Island discounts, and 50% more points on Neighbor Island travel starting January 1, 2027
- Club 49. Exclusively for Alaska residents this gives Free bags to, from, and within Alaska, plus intra-state deals and cargo discounts.
- Global Locals. ‘A faster path to status on international travel. Earn 10% more status points on flights that begin and/or end outside the United States.’
- Culinary Journeys. ‘Follow your taste for adventure. Earn up to 10,000 points on travel to culinary destinations, plus 20% off food and wine experiences with Atmos Rewards Unlocked.’
- Active Escapes. ‘Chase the wild. Earn up to 10,000 points at destinations filled with natural wonder, plus 20% off outdoor experiences with Atmos Rewards Unlocked and exclusive offers from partners, including AllTrails, the app for exploring the outdoors.’
- Families On the Go. ‘Make the most of your time together. Get 20% points back on award travel for kids 12 and under. Plus, earn up to 10,000 points at top family destinations.
Our Verdict
I love this from Atmos. I remember when loyalty programs and promotions used to be fun rather than endless ‘stay three nights and get a peasant amount of points’ or ‘get a discount of up to 5% but actually most flights are more expensive than when we aren’t running this sale’. Some of the actual benefits are useful as well, like 20% back on award travel for kids under 12 is great especially when it covers redemptions on partner airlines as well.
