Our Verdict

Previous high on this card was 40,500 miles for using a flight attendants number, I wonder if a similar link/offer will become available (e.g for 50,500 total miles) if anybody knows then please share in the comments. You should also be able to upgrade this card to the Silver Aviator after 90 days and you don’t have to pay the difference in the annual fee. The Silver card has the following features:

  • Annual fee of $195
  • Earns at the following rates:
    • 3x miles on all American Airline/US Airways purchases
    • 2x miles on eligible hotels and car rentals
    • 1x miles on all other purchases
  • Elite qualifying miles: 5,000 for $20,000 in spend (10,000 for $40,000+ in spend)
  • Companion certificate good for up to two guests at $99 each when you spend $30,000 or more in purchases (taxes and fees apply)
  • 10% of redeemed miles will be redeposited into your account (limit of 10,000 miles per calendar year)
  • $100 statement credit when you purchase Global Entry
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • 25% discount on food, beverages and headsets on US Airways & American Airlines operated flights
  • Free checked bag for you and up to 8 traveling companions
  • Priority boarding (zone 2 on domestic US Airways operated flights and group 1 on domestic American Airline flights)
  • Access to U.S based customer service and Mastercard’s elite concierge service

This is probably the best offer on a card with no minimum spend (or that might go to the Avianca card with a 60,000 point bonus). Keep in mind that people have been having issues actually finding award saver space with American Airlines recently, making the miles significantly less valuable. Due to this we will not be adding this to our list of the best credit card offers.

Read through these things you should know about Barclaycard credit cards before asking any basic questions in the comments. For example it’s usually not possible to get matched to a higher sign up bonus, but you might have more success asking for a manager as front line representatives cannot complete these requests.
