Our Verdict

Not as good as the 75,000 point bonus. The upside is this is available via referral so if you can refer a friend/family member and effectively split the referral miles then this offer is actually better. You can see how being added as an AU affects your credit by reading this post. We will add this to the best credit card bonuses, but keep in mind if you’re not using a referral from somebody you know it’s probably better to wait for the 75k bonus to return. This is also the best offer on a card with no minimum spend. Read through these things you should know about Barclays credit cards before asking any basic questions in the comments.

Post history:

I got this offer in 2023 then closed the card after the first year ~9 months ago.

Applied for it again yesterday and got this denial message.

“Thank you for your recent application for the AAdvantage® Aviator® Red Credit Card.
We have reviewed your application and determined that we are unable to approve you for a AAdvantage® Aviator® Red Credit Card account for the following reason(s):
– Our records show that you already have or had an account with us in this Program.
We regret not being able to meet your credit needs at this time and we look forward to the potential portunity to assist you in the future.”

Does anytime have experience turning this denial into approval through Barclays reconsideration line?

Must have had the card at least 6 months. If targeted, referral link would be found under the “Offers” tab. YMMV

So what is the latest consensus on when to re-apply for this offer?

I closed the card just over one year ago. And kept the card for a year before closing it.

I really want this bonus and card again.

You might want to revise your words here. There does not seem to be any referral program.

Solid DP. I’ve had several Aviator Red cards over the years going back to the legacy cards. I always closed at the one year mark and wait 12 -18 months for another churn. Currently, have a Barclay’s Hawaiian. 3/24 w/ 10 inquiries (Mostly Inks). Usually once or twice per year, I will jump at a strong offer on a personal card. Decided to roll the dice less than 6 months from closing the last one & was surprised on the approval. Just hope this doesn’t affect the CitI AA 48 month rule. Totally worth it though….

10/30/23: Approved for Aviator
12/1/24: Closed that Aviator
4/12/24: Approved for $20k

Aplied today. Last Arrival was 08-24. Excellent credit under 5/24. Got a message saying I already have this card. Not true. No credit pull. So strange.

Last time I applied is mid 2022 for getting SUB. dont remember when I closed it. Today I applied and got approval, and it recognized me with message “It looks like you already have online access – log in to view your account.

Will I get SUB this time, or it depends
