Barclays has launched a new tiered savings account offering up to 4.8% APY. The tiers are as follows:
- $250,000, 4.8% APY
- $100,000 – $249,999, 4.5% APY
- $50,000 – $99,999, 4.5% APY
- $25,000 – $49,999, 4% APY
- $10,000 – $24,999, 4% APY
- $9,999 or less, 1% APY
Not attractive compared to other basic savings accounts. Barclays has offered savings bonuses in the past, so fingers crossed we see that for this account at some stage otherwise it’s useless.
Has to sting having The DoC call you useless.
Western Alliance 5.36% APY.
Terrible bank tho , no app, website from the 90s, only can link one bank, 50/50 usability of their website. Kicked them to the curb
Fidelity cash account is 4.96% any amount
Once you’re on their defecation list you’re there for life.
What did you do to get on that list?
10+ years ago P2 and I had 3 cards each and had gotten their bonuses. They canceled the cards, I guess thinking it was abuse. Apply every now and then only to get a non-approval for both of us. Amex does this sometimes, but eventually we get approved.

It’ll be time for no-penalty CDs soon.
Does having a Barclays bank account decrease the chances of having to fax in copies of your most recent blood work to get a credit card? Or maybe they will ask you to cut off a knuckle and send it by courier service to open the bank account?
Left testicle required for confirming bonus offer attached to account
Wild how you can’t just email documents to them like every other bank that has made it to the 21st century
Because they’re a British bank. They do things old school. Some may call it backwards, because it is.
