Our Verdict

Best Buy is always popular, just remember the savings codes are expiring codes. Also, keep in mind that Best Buy gift cards can no longer be used to buy most third-party gift cards at many Best Buy locations which kills the deal for a lot of people. Not sure if you can buy Best Buy gift cards with the savings codes or if that’s dead as well in those locations.

If you want to max this out, either buy three $150 e-gift cards or you can buy a single $450 e-gift card and get all three $15 savings codes if you prefer that (it’ll show clearly at checkout as being eligible for three $15 codes). The codes will still come as three separate $15 codes.

You’ll earn Best Buy Rewards with the purchase if you input your Rewards number at checkout on Cashstar. Check the credit card bonus categories in our Payments Workshop. No portal.

However you still get money via portal with Best Buy paying with these gift cards

I believe the non-refundable condition for the gift code is new. In the past merchandise paid with gift codes could be refunded with a BBY gift card.

if I understand you, yes. (I’ve often used multiple codes to purchase a single best buy gift card)

Glad to help. As a further footnote dp, not every best buy cashier in my limited experience knew at first how to do this. Yet with some friendly patience, they figured it out each time. (as you may already have surmised, this is esp. useful as the gift cards don’t expire, can be sold, etc. – but not the certificates)

Last time I did one of these deals, the GCs didn’t come automatically despite confirming I was eligible for the offer. Eventually received the cards after complaining but it was a hassle.

Is this considered manufactured spending by Amex?

Is this billed by Cashstar or BBY? For the purposes of triggering an AO, I still have a couple $30 off $300.
