[Expired] BJ’s Wholesale Club Open To Everybody Without A Membership Until November 4th (No Fee/Commitment)

Unfortunately this has now ended and you now need a paid membership

BJ’s Wholesale Club is holding a ‘Welcome One and All’ event where anybody can visit a BJ’s Wholesale club without a membership. This runs until November 4th, 2018 and there is no need to sign up for a trial membership or anything like that. This is useful as the Chase Freedom & Discover it are earning 5% at wholesale clubs this quarter and BJ’s sells a variety of gift cards including Visa prepaids. You can also purchase online during this period, this post outlines how.

Bought 4 variable load vanilla VGCs today without any activation fees.
They also had variable load One Vanilla VGs but didn’t try.
Self checkout also worked after scanning the open day coupon.
Now, how do I liquidate these?
Does these work for paying Citi CC bills/MO/load Serve at FD etc?

With the end of the membership promo, have the fees returned on the VGCs, or are they still fee free?

I went to the store today and there were still no fees on the VGC variable load gift cards.

Not sure if it makes a difference but I got the ones with the presents on the cover not the black cover ones.

Just wanted to make sure if I understand correctly:
BJ’s Wholesale Club sells variable vanilla VGCs without any activation fees all the time or is it only till tomorrow?
I mean if I sign up for 3 months trial membership I will be able to buy variable vanilla VGCs without activation fees for next 3 months?

My BJ’s has 500 visa cards. So can use Freedom and Discover cards for MS. Bought one today with no problem.

The local BJ’s called a manager like it’s a bank robbery situation when I asked to buy 12 VGC. The manager came up with some BS policy of one $300 gc per day, citing past fraud issue with gc purchases. Ugh

Somewhat surprisingly, you can buy GCs at the self-checkout at BJ’s. For the variables, it even prompts you to load the amount. FWIW, you can also buy GCs at Home Depot self-checkouts. It might make your situation easier. That said, $6000 in GCs in one visit might certainly be conspicuous.

I was able to buy them too, however it wasn’t taking activation fees off. after some time messing with it, cashier just did 5.95 vendor coupon for all three of them. weird. did yours took off automatically?

Yes, it was automatic. Honestly, I was amazed at how smoothly the transactions went. I’m not really accustomed to buying gift cards from self checkout. I liked it!

Has anyone tried buying Sam’s gc and then using them in Sam’s to buy vgc?

Can VGC or MC be bought online with free Membership?

Doesn’t appear possible. I was able to get an account, but gc search reveals the usual suspects.

How can you get a free account online? Is there a deal? And then one can go to store fee free too? How long is free membership for?
