Update: This is opt in. If you don’t opt in you keep the old rewards program. This makes it significantly better and a great move by Brex.
Brex has made changes to the bonus categories it offers on it’s card for start ups. Previously this card earned:
- 7x points on rideshare
- 4x points on brex travel
- 3x points on restaurants
- 2x points on recurring software
- 1x points on all other purchases
Now this card earns:
- 7x points on Collaboration tools bundle
- 3x points on food delivery bundle
- 2x points on recurring software
- 1x points on all other purchases
Brex made this change as they stated most cardholders weren’t able to take advantage of the current set up due to COVID-19. They are also offering the following discounts:
- Up to $100,000 in Amazon Web Services credits (depending on company funding)
- 25% off Slack for 12 months
- A discounted three-month starter package on DoorDash DashPass food delivery service
- 50% off all annual Dropbox Business Standard subscriptions
- 20% off Zoom
I personally would have liked to see Brex just add the new category bonuses without removing the old ones. I find it a bit concerning that they can make such a dramatic change to the rewards program, but in all honesty most start ups will probably find the new categories more useful.
