[Expired] AmEx Offer: 10% Back At Staples, $50 Limit

Deal has expired, view more Staples deals by clicking here.

[Update: it’s showing on personal cards as well.]

The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Get 10% back as a statement credit by using your enrolled business card on eligible purchases in-store at Staples or online at staples.com 06/30/2019. Limit of $50 back in statement credits

The Fine Print

  • Limit of $50 in total statement credits per American Express Card Member.
  • Expires June 30th, 2019
  • Excludes Quill, Smilemaker, Staples Business Advantage, Staples 4 Government, Staples Toner Services, Staples Technology Solutions, Staples Promotional Products, Staples Print Solutions, Copy and Printing Services, Staples Contract and Commercial, Staples App Center, Staples Industrial, Staples Book Rental, Staples Simplexity, Staples Share Fund, Coastwide Labs, Catalog and Staples Fundraising.
  • Not valid for gift cards in bulk purchases.

Our Verdict

Remember that the limit of $50 is across all cards and they clawed back people who got more than the limit last time.  Staples frequently has Visa/Mastercard gift cards on sale and these aren’t considered bulk purchases so they should qualify without any issue. Staples also sells third party gift cards as well so that is also an option. I’d personally save this offer now and then just wait for a Visa/Mastercard deal to come along to max it out (you only need to spend $500 to max it out). Try to save it on the SimplyCash Plus if you have it as that card earns 5% back at office supply stores as well.

Dumb question about “per American Express Card Member” rule: Does it count for authorized user too? Like can I use the offer on my main card + authorized user?

Yes, so long as it has a separate card number. Each person (unique SSN) can get one offer across all their cards. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/the-amex-offers-multi-tab-trick-is-dead/

Got it on My Amex Everyday Card. Bought 2 $300 VGC from staples.com.
Got my email . will post if I get my bonus:

Thank you for using your Card at Staples, where you saved 10% on your recent business transaction with Amex Offers.

A statement credit will automatically be applied to your statement if your purchase meets the offer terms. Continue to use this offer through 06/30/19 or until $50 in statement credits is reached. See offer terms and exclusions below.

escot On the Lowe’s offer, did you spend $1000 in a single purchase or across multiple purchases. I would like to know if I can spend $400 on one purchase and come back and spend $600 on another purchase few days later. Will I get 10% back on both these purchases to max out the 10% on $1000?

This is excellent news. I screwed up and put it on a personal card despite my telling everyone play it safe and use it on biz cards only. So, hell with the fine print- YOLO right?

I didn’t get any of these offers on any of my cards or AU cards (5 total different SSNs). Maybe because I added and used them all last year? Pretty bummed…

Does anyone know if say for example I bought one $100 third party gift card would that trigger the 10% offer?

All past DPs say yes. You can get up to $500 in gift cards to max out the full $50 offer.

Bulk is when you’re purchasing like hundreds of gift cards for your employees.

“Not valid for gift cards in bulk purchases.” Can this be used for Visa, MC, or AMEX gift cards in non-bulk form? What constitutes a “bulk purchase” of gift cards?

Looks like they got smart with deleting multiple offers this time.. when I added on my SPG biz it removed the offer from my AU card on my wife’s SPG biz but I could add it to her SPG biz.
