It’s rather disappointing that on a forum about deals and travel, so many are unwilling to participate in an activity, for free, that protects themselves and also is the key to resume travel to its glory that lives in our collectively treasured memory. Having concerns about the relatively new vaccines is completely valid. But look it up! It doesn’t take a college degree to decipher the widely available information on the science, the experimental results, and the manufacturing process. Sitting this out is akin to seeing a no-fee cc offer with a $1,000 sign-on bonus and no spending requirement and, say, meh I don’t want a hard pull. Your focus on one very minor negativity is completely disproportional to the benefits.

This is essentially a $50 offer. Everything is is a lottery. Generally speaking people who play the CC bonus game don’t bother with lotteries

According to the LATimes Rich People were trying to get their shots early. Doctors were “receiving offers of “tens of thousands of dollars in cash,” in addition to “making their personal assistants pester doctors every day, and asking whether a five-figure donation to a hospital would help them jump the line.”

If people want the vaccine, they should get it. Fair enough. On a side note, does anyone remember the plot in the movie “The Island?” What was the mechanism to get people to HAPPILY meet their demise? Oh, I remember… A “lottery.”

Lol Everyone who got vaccinated before May 27th just get to keep wearing masks to protect the idiots that didn’t. Another great use of tax dollars

Updated May 28, 2021: New guidance for fully vaccinated people, you can resume activities without wearing a mask, physically distancing, or washing your hands. [Eww no, please wash your hands!] https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/pdfs/choosingSaferAct.pdf

I agree with you. The fact that they have to offer millions of dollars to motivate people to do something allegedly “life saving” is undeniable proof that something is amiss.

Your evidence is anecdotal at best. Credible data would show a significant drop in Covid cases where vaccinations are increased.

your comments are absurd and should be nuked. i’m shocked that this page is littered with anti-vaxxers, was not expecting that at all.

From their terms,

“If CDPH cannot immediately make contact via telephone with the persons selected in the drawing … CDPH’s efforts to contact persons selected in the drawing may end 96 hours after the first attempt at contacting the persons, after which time they may no longer be offered a prize”

How would they know my telephone number? How would I give it to them?

You would need to give them your phone number when you sign up for an appointment through the MyTurn’s website.

If you’re doing a walk-in though – not sure how that would work out. I’d assume you’d need to provide a phone number then?

They should have tied the stimulus checks to the vaccines. $50 wouldn’t do it for a lot of people but you have a anti-vaxxer Trumper decide between this newfound concern about the perils of modern science on their health and a brand new TV, you’d get better results.
