[CA only?] Kinecta MyPerks Mastercard: $500 Bonus After $6,000 In Spend

Kinecta Federal Credit Union offers the Kinecta MyPerks Mastercard. Let’s take a look in this quick review.

Card Basics

  • Sign up bonus of up to $500. Bonus is tiered, spending requirement must be completed within 90 days of account opening:
    • Receive $500 when you spend $6,000 or more
    • Receive $250 when you spend $4,000 to $5,999
    • Receive $100 when you spend $1,500 to $3,999
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 3% back on gas purchases (up to $6,000 in spend annually)
    • 2% grocery purchases (up to $6,000 in spend annually)
    • 1% on all other purchases (no cap)
  • You can also get an additional 20% back as part of their relationship rewards
  • 0% introductory APR on balance transfers completed within 90 days of account opening for 18 months. Balance transfer fee of 3% applies

Our Verdict

Kinecta is a relatively small credit union with branches in CA. There is at least one report of an approval from outside their service area, but keep in mind if they get a high volume of applications they might close these accounts at a later date. It isn’t clear if the relationship bonus applies to the initial sign up bonus or not, my guess is that it doesn’t but I could very well be wrong.

Looks like they added a $5 monthly fee on the share account unless the minimum balance is $250.

Remaining 400 of my bonus credited to my account balance within 2 weeks after completing my spend. Nice and prompt.
Their website’s a bit clunky, but their customer service has been good. 2 thumbs up for Kinecta.

I hit my first 1.5k in spend (first full statement) and the first $100 bonus posted within that same statement as Kinecta Rewards Credit. A welcome surprise!

I got approved for this yesterday and I live in NJ. They do ask for copy of paychecks.

Got approved in FL today, but they gave me an initial CL of $1,000 on the MyPerks card so I’m going to have to request an increase so meeting the bonus spend is easier.

Just an FYI, that they are now pulling all 3 bureaus (EX, TU & EQ) as of today, 2/14, after only pulling EX yesterday (2/13). They are also asking for two year’s worth of complete tax filing with all schedules for P2, where they conditionally approved me earlier yesterday w/o that info and fully approved me once my membership application was processed this morning.
I would guess the large volume increase from this posting and my initial mention in reddit resulted in them to freak out a bit. The rep who called me to let me know of my approval and P2’s additional docs told me they had a large amount of “suspicious” applications causing them to perform additional identity verification.

I applied today and they only pulled EX. I’m in CA though. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Have you been approved already? They auto pull EX at first and then manually pull TU and EQ a day later before approving.

Same here with that Pam. Im in Socal. They email and called to advise of approval for 7.5k.
Said i needed to submit d.l. and paystub for their credit union membership.
I didnt mind the 3 pulls for a 500 cash bonus especially afer failed apps with cap one

The terms say that AL and NE residents need to be at least 19 years old, so they certainly accept OOS applicants.

The terms say “Bonus is paid as a statement credit. To qualify and receive your statement credit, you must make Purchases minus Refunds and Returns totaling $1,500 to $3,999.99 to receive $100 or $4,000 to $5,999.99 to receive $250 or $6,000 or more to receive $500 within the first ninety (90) days of account opening.”

I think the 2 billing cycle part is for receiving the bonus after meeting MSR, “After qualifying, the cash bonus will be posted to your account within the next two billing cycles”

Am I missing something, is it not the typical 90 days for meeting MSR?
