Cautiously Optimistic that Amex Offers Are Back to Normal

A few weeks ago, many of us were having trouble adding Amex Offers correctly via Twitter. Instead of the familiar, ‘thx for enrolling’ tweet, we got no response or an (incorrect) reply, ‘you’ve already enrolled.’

Since then, many people asked me, ‘it’s all back to normal now, right?’ But it wasn’t. As recently as January 4th, the system was still messing up on my tweets when I connected a new Amex card.

Today, it’s looking good with the new #AmexHilton offer.

I was able to load all my cards properly and a few others told me the same. Then I went to search #amexhilton on Twitter, and it looked like 90% of them got the normal ‘thx for enrolling’ reply. There are perhaps 10% that said ‘you’ve already enrolled,’ so it may be that there is still a minor issue here, or it may be that these people loaded them manually via the login, triggering that reply.

Incidentally, it was interesting going through all the @AmexOffers tweets and constantly seeing ‘@johndoeSPG3’ or ‘timPRG’ or ‘amexoffersBB’ and many similarly-named Twitter accounts there. 🙂

In conclusion, I’m cautiously optimistic that all is back to normal. Initially, we weren’t sure if this was a new policy by Amex to limit duplicates or just a glitch. It appears now that it was just a glitch.
