Setting up multiple Twitter accounts, with one Amex card attached to each account, enables us to save Amex Offers easily across many Amex cards, see: How To Sign Up For Multiple American Express Sync Offers for more information.
There are currently three concerns people are experiencing with Amex Offers on Twitter:
- Delayed response time; not necessarily problematic but a new thing
- Getting no response at all
- Getting a ‘You’ve already enrolled response’ when you aren’t enrolled
On Friday, I wrote that The Axe is Falling on Duplicating Amex Offers, and the Twitter system is no longer working to save an offer on all cards; Amex now limits just one offer per person by tracking the names behind the card.
Offersbot reached out to us via email to explain their take on the situation. They feel that it’s just a glitch going on with the Twitter system due to a new application Amex is now using.
Here are the main points laid out by Offersbot:
- Since November 30 Amex has been sending out tweets in batches of 1500 every 15 minutes.
- All Twitter API limitations are always done in 15-minute windows, and it thus appears that Amex now has some limitations by Twitter regarding how many tweets they can send out. Previously, they did not have any such restrictions.
- It seems that Amex redeveloped the application they use to run the offers (possibly also switching it from being run by a third-party vendor to running it internally) and this caused them to lose their unlimited ability to send out tweets.
- When Amex is throttled by the 1500-limit, they get error responses from Twitter and these responses are currently being handled poorly and are causes the issues we’re seeing.
Conclusion
In conclusion, changes are happening for saving offers via Twitter. It may just be birth pangs of a new system, or it may be that they are trying to do some limiting along the way.
Here’s hoping the former is true!
