Chase Business Cardholders Get New Card Offer Which Bypasses 5/24

[Update 6/5/19: Many readers got pending yesterday and are now seeing the card show up as approved in their online login.]

Many Chase customers who have a business credit card with Chase are now seeing a targeted offer within their Chase login to apply for a new card which should bypass 5/24. We put this out earlier today as an update to a previous post, but given how widely available this is I’m creating a dedicated post here.

We’ve written before how Just For You offers (found from link in the menu within your Chase login) seem to be immune to the 5/24 disqualification rule, provided that the system shows you a fixed APR on the credit card application. There’s a similar kind of offer found under Just For You for business cardholders as well which seems to bypass 5/24.

Aside from the Just For You offers on the personal and business end, we mentioned (in a May update) that there’s a new kind of offer showing within the card information (right under where it says Pay Card) which also has a fixed APR and seems to be working to bypass 5/24.

This kind of offer is only for business cards, far as I’m aware, and only shows up for those who already have a business card with Chase. However, it’s found in both personal and business logins. (Chase knows you have a business card based on your SSN, so they send the targeted business card offer to both your personal and business logins.) I’m unsure if this offer shows in the Chase app as well.

Check on each of your Chase personal and business card, beneath the Pay Card button to see if you got this. Then, click through and check that the APR is showing a fixed APR. If it is, it should bypass the automatic 5/24 denial. Some people are even getting instant approvals. (Chase does not usually give instant approvals on business cards, so don’t expect that.)

There are dozens of reports today of people seeing an offer there, mostly for the no-fee INK Unlimited with a $500 signup bonus. Sporadic reports of Chase INK Preferred as well. (Data points here and here.) I’ve never gotten any of these Just For You offers, but this targeted offer came my way. It shows on all my cards, in both personal and business logins.

Not showing for me. I have an Ink Cash and SW Business cards on the account.

I’ve been checking every couple of days and I guess I’m just not targeted for these “Just for You” offers. I have 9 open Chase cards, so that may contribute to the problem. Really eyeing that Ink Unlimited sign-up bonus though.

Nada for me.

Have not been targeted for a single Chase card ever, yet got this offer.

Applied and got this language (which I suspect will lead to a denial)

“Thank you for your request.

We need to review your request a little longer. We will let you know of our decision as soon as possible.

Please do not resubmit this request.

Thank you for choosing the Chase Ink Business Unlimited credit card.”

EDIT- phone status gave me the 30 days language, so here’s hoping.

I got the same.

UPDATE: Approved for both P1 & P2! I am well over 5/24.

How long did it take to get approval? I’m assuming you called in to check the automated status line? Day of I called and received the 30 day message. The next day I called and got 7-10 day message.

how many cards over 24 and are you ever afraid of shutdown?

Extremely common with Chase on business cards, as mentioned in the article.

I got the exact same on my Chase business login (for a CIU, black star, with fixed APR). After applying, got the “need more time” e-mail and 30-day message on the phone status line. I’m 7/24.

Called the status line again this morning once the business had started in NY: approved.

I got the same message and then received a letter requesting additional information, once I provided the information I was approved.

I’ve only ever seen the 600 business savings/checking offer underneath the ‘Pay’ button, but I do now see the 80k point offer for the Ink Business Preferred in my notifications tab, which I already have… I am assuming that this card follows the sapphire schedule for bonuses?

I have Chase personal cards and am over 5/24. Can I get a Chase business card at all? Or is there any way to be targeted for this?

if you are way over 5/24 , then you cannot get chase biz cards thru the regular way. you can bypass 5/24 thru BRM or preapproval.

Data point: First time ever receiving an offer. Saw the INK preferred and unlimited listed. Clicked through for the preferred where my info was already filled in and there was a fixed APR. Applied and will update with result as I am over 5/24. I do want to mention that I have notifications from all three bureaus that there was a hard pull. I have only ever had one bureau pulled for a Chase application. Perhaps this is a new thing where they pull all 3 bureaus.

I had the exact same experience except I already have the CIP and the offer disappeared when I clicked back to apply for CIU.

If I downgraded to this card from the CIP, am I still eligible for the welcome bonus?

I haven’t been targeted for any card offers (only Mortgage/Checking and Merchant Services) on my business login since I started looking 3+ months ago and nothing again today. Is there any word on how to increase my chances of being targeted? Perhaps my $200/mo spend on my current CIC is not enough.

Ann
Ann

How long have you had your CIC? If it has only been 3ish months since you signed up, rather than just since you started looking for offers, maybe it’s too soon for this.

Chris
Chris

I’ve had it for nearly a year now.

I am with Chase since March with 2 business cards, and I haven’t gotten this offers. That said, I don’t think I will get an offer soon.

Not sure it’s worth chancing having eyes on your accounts/report for those of us who said goodbye to new chase cards a long time ago. Curious what others thoughts are on this.

Ann

I’d suspect the risk depends how far over 5/24 you are. I don’t know what threshold they might find alarming enough to prompt a shutdown, but as an arbitrary example, 12/24 might be fine but 24/24 might scare ’em.

I feel like the risk of shudown is relatively low if you are pre approved because Chase soft pulls your credit report to give you pre approval. so they are aware fo your X/24 status.

I never get anything. sigh 🙁

I received the ink unlimited offer, but I already have the card. Any chance I will be approved for a 2nd card?

Abey

A dedicated tease post? 😓

Ann

How is this a “tease”? DoC posts alerts all the time to check for all sorts of targeted offers that only some people get.

Since these are non-reporting business card offers for existing card holders, does it result in a HP if you actually accept one such offer? Anyone accepted and found a pull? Tempted to accept if there is no HP.

chase will always do hard pull even if you are preapproved

I got HPed on all 3 bureaus :/

Hey Doc! I’m still seeing the CIU card still showing up in my “Selected For Business Owners” with a fixed APR even though I have applied for the card and have already been approved for it. What are the chances Chase will approve a 2nd CIU? I’m not sure I’m willing to take that risk but I wonder if anyone has had any luck getting approved for a 2nd CIU card while they already have one open or was just recently approved for one.

Ann
Ann

I know people have more than one they’ve gotten by using SSN on one and EIN on the other. Unsure if you can get two without that approach.

Marc

DP: approved for my 2nd CIU today w/14k CL! Applied yesterday via the pre-selected banner below pay card. First CIU opened in March 2019 and am currently floating a solid balance with the 0% APR. Both CIUs opened with SSN and I am 2/24. I also have CIP, recently closed Marriott Biz, and two co-branded personal chase cards. I keep hoping to be targeted for CSP offer but this is better!

Are you sure you’ll get the bonus on both? I thought it was once every 24 months?

Marc
Marc

That’s the 50,000-point question. I don’t see that language in the offer terms, only know of it from blogger articles. Will have to wait and see, but figured I’d chance it since the banner was “targeted” on my account.
